Chuck DeVore statement on Carly Fiorina Declaring her Candidacy

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- DeVore for California, the campaign organization for Chuck DeVore's bid for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate in California, today welcomes the entry of Carly Fiorina to the race. Fiorina's arrival means Republican voters have a clear choice in this primary: between an establishment-picked, big-government moderate with lots of cash but little experience in public life -- and a volunteer-supported, proven conservative with a long record of civic engagement in Chuck DeVore.

Assemblyman Chuck DeVore said, "I look forward to engaging Carly Fiorina on the issues Californians care about: out-of-control federal debt, soaring government spending on bailouts and stimulus, a pending government takeover of healthcare, and Barbara Boxer's huge energy-tax increase disguised as cap-and-trade."

Carly Fiorina's entry into the race comes the day after Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC) and the Senate Conservatives Fund resoundingly endorsed Chuck DeVore as the best candidate to beat Boxer in 2010.

DeVore for California welcomes Fiorina's candidacy as part of the great pageant of American democracy -- and we eagerly anticipate making the case for a principled, Constitutional, and engaged conservatism.

The DeVore for California campaign is online at ChuckDeVore.com.

This is a good thing — it will raise the profile of DeVore and bring a great deal of interest to what would normally be a pro-forma election.

I just hope they both don’t tear each other down. They should study the McDonnell campaign on how to do it Right.

I think three areas are possible and they are all on the East portion of the state. Two of the areas are 50/50 and one area is 54 percent. If I am not mistaken, the 54 percent area is part of Camp Pendleton. Obviously the Marines may be Republican, but many of them may not vote in California and vote in their individual states which explains the 54 percent.

Go for DeVore. NO MORE RINOs or DIABLOs. California Republicans should want someone who is the opposite of Babs Boxer, not an echo.

Ventura, San Berndardino, San Diego, Imperial could be picked off, on that map. Those areas have gone GOP in the past.

Bill Jones was an OK candidate, except that a) he supported McCain in 2000, b) he’s boring as all get-out c) he was WAY underfunded in the 2004 race, as Bush and the GOP had abandoned CA in their strategery. d) he didn’t campaign hard enough, because he didnt have enough money to do so.

There are a lot of areas that could have been swayed had his campaign had the resourced he needed. I’d say any county that Babs took with less than 55% could be moved without too much effort.
