More Information on Fort Hood Shooting Suspect

Posted: Nov 05, 2009 6:07 PM CST
Updated: Nov 05, 2009 7:26 PM CST

Military officials say the suspected shooter at Fort Hood was a psychiatrist at Walter Reed Army Medical Center for six years before being transferred to the Texas base in July.

The officials had access to Maj. Malik Nadal Hasan's military record. They said he received a poor performance evaluation while at Walter Reed.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because military records are confidential.

Federal law enforcement officials say the Hasan came to their attention at least six months ago because of Internet postings that discussed suicide bombings and other threats.

The Virginia-born soldier was single with no children. He was 39 years old.

He is a graduate of Virginia Tech University, where he was a member of the ROTC and earned a bachelor's degree in biochemistry in 1997. He received his medical degree from the military's Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Md., in 2001. At Walter Reed, he did his internship, residency and a fellowship.

“Do the names Hasan and Hussein have similarities?”

Close,

ha(s)-san\ is pronounced hah-SAHN. It is of Arabic origin, and its meaning is “good-looking, handsome”. Popular in the Arabic world.

hu(s)-sein\ is pronounced hoo-SAYN. It is of Arabic origin, and its meaning is “good; small handsome one”. The name of a prominent person in Shiite Islam and a royal name in Jordan. American

Okay, before I jump on the “evil Muslim” bandwagon, 6 years is along time to spend as a psychiatrist at Walter Reed, dealing with a steady stream of young servicemembers coming back with some awful psychiatric problems, including many where psychiatric problems are a related to massive brain injuries.

This guy may have been psychologically traumatized himself. And the timing of the transfer seems odd, maybe as if it was in response to signs that he was buckling under the stress of his Walter Reed duties, so he was sent to a location that was basically the opposite with a bunch of servicepeoplw who have little or nothing wrong with them being “processed” before be shipped overseas.

If he’d been a murderous jihadist all along, just waiting for a good opportunity to blast off for Paradise in a blaze of homicidal glory, Walter Reed would have been a much higher profile place to do it, due to its constant media attention and constant parade of elected national-level politicians. He could easily have taken out a Congressperson or Senator there.

Where are you getting your “6 years at Walter Reed” info?

Per link in #65 he first completed his training in 2007. Maybe some of the training was at WR.

He had never deployed overseas. Had spent the last six years at Walter Reed. He did not want to go overseas and fight Muslims. one colonel who knew him at Ft. Hood said that the Muslims in Iraq ought to fight the invaders (he said it was clear that the “invaders” referred tp was US troops)

Al-Qaida Angle Emerges in CAIR-Tied Terror Case
By: Paul Sperry
FrontPageMagazine.com | Wednesday, June 20, 2007

It started out as an investigation into U.S.-based financing of Hamas terrorist operations, which was bad enough. But as federal investigators developed a matrix of suspects, they discovered a possible 9/11 connection.

The Holy Land Foundation terror case has already touched the top Muslim lobby in Washington — the Council on American-Islamic Relations — which U.S. prosecutors recently named as an unindicted co-conspirator.

A former senior CAIR official is among five indicted figures in the major terror-funding case. It turns out he is related by marriage to a key suspect in the conspiracy — a radical Muslim cleric and activist who authorities have linked to al-Qaida.

In fact, they say the cleric is closely connected to the spiritual adviser to the 9/11 hijackers.

Federal investigators have learned that imam Mohammed El-Mezain — who goes on trial next month with one of CAIR’s founding board members — once lived in the same small Colorado apartment complex with another imam accused of preparing some of the hijackers for their “martyrdom” operation.

El-Mezain and imam Anwar Aulaqi later moved to San Diego, where Aulaqi held closed-door meetings with the al-Qaida hijackers. The two radical clerics also organized pilgrimages to Mecca together, including one made just months before the 9/11 attacks.

According to federal investigators, El-Mezain likely met Aulaqi in Fort Collins, Colo., around 1990, when the two lived next door to each other.

Investigators have traced El-Mezain’s address at the time to 500 W. Prospect Rd. in Fort Collins. Aulaqi also listed an address then at 500 W. Prospect Rd. El-Mezain occupied Apartment 19C, while Aulaqi occupied Apartment 23L, as I first reported in my book, “Infiltration: How Muslim Spies and
Subversives Have Penetrated Washington.”

In February 2001, El-Mezain and Aulaqi arranged for American Muslims to go on an “executive-package” trip to the Saudi holy land through a travel agency in Falls Church, Va., a connection also revealed in “Infiltration.” The trip itinerary I obtained lists Aulaqi as the “Imam on Trip,” with El-Mezain acting as trip adviser.

El-Mezain and Aulaqi moved in the same circles in San Diego.

Before his recent arrest, El-Mezain headed the San Diego office of alleged Hamas front Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development and, like Aulaqi, served as a leader in local mosques there. Aulaqi preached in a San Diego mosque for four years before moving in January 2001 to Falls Church,
Va., to lead prayers at Dar al-Hijrah Islamic Center, the largest mosque in the Washington, D.C., area.

Joined the Army right out of High School and not happy about the wars then he shouldn’t have joined a service that is supposed to go to war if needed. IMO
