Joseph Cao. A PRO-LIFE REPUBLICAN who studied to become a priest. He was the LONE congressional Republican who voted YES to the bill.

Cao the guy whose district is so corrupt that it kept voting in William Jefferson ( the guy who took close to $100,000 in bribes and stashed the cash in his fridge ) in as congressman until he was officially charged with the crime.

I’m really disappointed in Cao, yet, understand why he voted as he did. His constituents (mostly blacks, poor and unemployed) WANT the bill and would have kicked his sorry behind had he voted otherwise.

That’s no excuse. The bill is a crap sandwich and Cao would know that. He goes too.

My slimy Rep., Ike Skelton, voted against it also. He held out, not giving any clue what he was going to do until a couple of days ago when he came out against it. He was just waiting on the Dem leadership’s direction. This is a conservative district and they knew that he would have a hard time if he voted for it. What a bunch of scum.

You have that right! Would bet that is what took is vote so long to be posted as leadership was waiting until they got 218 and then told him to vote for his welfare district.

Come 2010, the reasons behind you not being re-elected ? ....... thank Pelosi. Sure there will be some that might squeek through but there are way to many of you who will need cover by team Pelosi and team Obama. You have signed your unemployment ticket with the American people. You have been rejected by WE THE PEOPLE and so will your leaders in 2012. Bask in the glory of this so called”making history” silliness, pat yourself on the backs, party, enjoy your short lived careers, 2010 you will remember, and it’s back to the job market for you all! WE are done with you!

They had more votes if they needed them. Chet Edwards (Texas) politically needed to be able to vote against it, but if his vote was needed, he’d have been there.

And others I suspect if they needed them. I heard on the news last night that one of the no votes said that all of a sudden the calls/pressure from the democrat leadership quit coming into his office which meant they had the 218 needed to pass. Had they needed others the pressure would have continued until they got it, imo.

Funnny the passage of these bills is always so close. Just like polls are evenly split.

When these turncoats leave office; they will be leaving their pensions behind along with healthcare and possibly serving time in jail.

I agree with you but what is the good of having a Republican who votes like a Democrat? Did he get elected spouting the liberal line?

I was reading that here in Texas seven Democrats had switched to the Republican Party recently. Good, if they vote the conservative line. Bad, if they just jumped on the Anti-Obama backlash and still vote like a Democrat.

I think a lot of minorities would vote for a conservative who stuck to his guns and explained the issues well. Trying to straddle the fence to appeal to moderates is what gets Republicans defeated. Consultants like those who ran McCain's campaign are the bane of the Republican Party. They are Liberal moles.
