JARRATT, Va. -- John Allen Muhammad, the sniper who kept the Washington region paralyzed by fear for three weeks as he and a young accomplice gunned down people at random, was executed Tuesday night by lethal injection.

I would be happy with life imprisonment and no parole.

The rotten cherry on top of this was pulling a minor into his nefarious scheme.

Do it on Jupiter and I wouldn’t complain. Oh, and on your dime.

Only if he had to find and make his own space suit after we dropped him off.

I don’t think God requires any lobbying for this one.

This is yet another case where I wish we can make an exception to the constitutional prohibition against "cruel and unusual punishment."

I think of all of those nice folks who were filling up their gas tanks and living a normal life when this piece of sh-t decided to take it.

I'm glad we got rid of this guy in just over 7 years. But it's pathetic that 7 years passes for "haste" in a case like this. Who cares if he's mentally ill? This kind of mental illness is just not something we can afford to subsidize to the tunes of millions of dollars for decades in a psych hospital.

Seven years is a quick execution these days. They got pissed at Ted Bundy so they executed him early in ten years ("the Bundy exception).

I think the normal wait for execution is 14 years.

“I’m not the type to demand an eye for an eye.”

OK, and I respect your respect (which is fine and good). I don’t celebrate per se; it’s more of a somber realization that discipline must be carried out.

Meanwhile: you can’t demand eye-for-eye here; there were some 12 dead victims (more injured), and only 2 perps. But I’d frankly be satisfied with that.

Agreed.

“While the death penalty may not be a deterrent,”

As with all good discipline, if forceful and TIMELY, it is.

We have become wusses who not only don’t like to actually do it, but drag out any that are condemned (only to have them released on millions of appeals). Of course it’s not a deterrent if you’re not serious about it.

I don’t think it’s so bad to be happy over the execution.

But sincerely hoping that somebody goes to hell is a mortal sin.

Why not? Choices have consequences. Why should we warehouse the wolves in our society? They can't be changed or rehavilitated. They have created victims.

If you want to save them, take one home with you.

Sure, because he threatened the political class in their backyard. All of our lives would be different—and there would have been no Ft. Hood terrorist attack—if the one 9/11 plane had hit the Capitol Building (where the Important People are) instead of the Pentagon (whom the Important People don’t care about).

In the Bible, God said, ‘Vengance is Mine’....

well, how else can one expect God to take vengance unless we )as humans) send said perp to God.....via execution...

Unless you are atheist.....ever been in a foxhole?????

That’s true, I haven’t, and I honestly can’t say how I would feel in that case. However, I’d like to think I could offer forgiveness. I’m not saying I don’t want severe punishment, but I’m not the type to demand an eye for an eye.

Quit the navel gazing, bud and man up. We're at war, it's us or them.

Go clean your field gear and be ready for inspection at 0200.
