"California’s Ridiculous “No-Death” Death Penalty"
Hogue News ^ | November 18, 2009 | Mitch Zak

Have you considered...One national news story recently caught my eye and reminded me of the sad state of affairs that is California’s “No Death” Death Penalty. I call it that because most of the 685 inmates on California’s Death Row will die of natural causes.

Consider this. One week ago, today, John Allen Muhammad – the Washington DC sniper – was executed in Virginia. He was convicted in 2003 of killing ten people and sentenced to death in March, 2004. That’s five and a half years from conviction through the appeals process to implementation of what is an appropriate and justified sentence.

Clearly, Virginia is for lovers, but definitely not a good place to be a killer!

Meanwhile, here in California, Scott Peterson sits on Death Row. His appeals process hasn’t even started.

Scott Peterson won't be executed til he's dead either before or after me.

Five and a half years is too long, we need to work at getting it down to 18 months. Bing bam boom, out. Also, organ harvesting can help lower our healthcare costs.

It takes 30 years on average to execute a convict in California. This far exceeds any definition of reasonable due process.

Due process only works for the criminal. If you’re a victim, or the family of a victim, you get to wait. And wait. And wait. For the guy to die of diabetes or cancer from jail house cigs.

Maryland here too. Dem governor suspended all executions as racist. That’s why the sniper killer had to be tried in VA to get the death penalty. Not a word from liberals here about that.

I’m not entirely against the death penalty, but organ harvesting is Chinese crap. There’s no place for it in our country... at least the Marxists in the White House haven’t mandated it yet.

“Kalifornia is made up of sick liberal uneducated fools, what can you expect.”

Wasn’t there a pretty well known conservative who became President after running California? We can’t ALL be “liberal uneducated fools”...

Isn't it ironic? The "Innocence Project" can get someone off "deathrow" in a matter of months using DNA evidence, but apparently the same evidence isn't ever good enough to execute someone in a matter of a few years.

funny how that works

I was actually kidding, but I suppose there are more rabid types that would be serious.

I remember a case in Kansas City where two people kidnapped and killed a boy in September, 1953. They were both executed in December, 1953. The good old days.

I whole-heartedly disagree. It gives a scumbag a chance to “pay society back” a little for his crimes.

Whether he likes it or not.

Too bad most of ‘em are probably too sick from various forms of self abuse to have many usable organs...

Richard Ramirez, the “Night Stalker”, who brutally murdered 13 people and terrorized southern California in 1984, was sentenced to death in 1989. He was first assigned a lawyer to coordinate his appeals in 2006. SEVENTEEN YEARS before the appeals process even began!

Something is very wrong here.

That’s ‘cause there are a lot of idiots who think that “being abused by your parents,” “retardation,” “fetal alcohol syndrome” or drug abuse are excuses not execute a scumbag. Don’t understand it myself, but my mindset is more 1950’s than 2000’s.

our country was better when cars had chrome bumpers and TV signed off the air at midnight with The Star Spangle Banner.
