Throughout critics such as myself have pointed out that making it easier to be unemployed at the expense of the people who we want to be doing the hiring was hardly a way to fix unemployment. And it turns out we were right:
WASHINGTON As if small businesses needed another reason not to hire, consider their latest financial burden: The cost of rising unemployment itself.
Employers already are squeezed by tight credit, rising health care costs, wary consumers and a higher minimum wage. Now, the surging jobless rate is imposing another cost. Its forcing higher state taxes on companies to pay for unemployment insurance claims.
Some employers say the extra costs make them less likely to hire. That could be a worrisome sign for the economic recovery, because small businesses create about 60 percent of new jobs. Other employers say theyll cut or freeze pay.

Again this is gov’t interference in the free markets.
ironic how what is supposed to be a recession dampener ie more benefits is acting as a growth dampener /higher taxes
Remember the middle GWB years had such low avg. unemployment (about 4-5%) that many employers often went begging for help. Tax cuts and less govt. control IS the answer to create jobs-—the exact opposite of what the mad socialists are doing now!
Why does the government mandate a “minimum” wage? How is it their business what a private employer and employee agree on as a wage?
Are you serious? Are you serious?

Effectively, selling your labor for $0 an hour.
So you can sell your labor at 7.25/hr or above or for 0/hr but heaven forbid you agree to work for any wage in between, because somehow that be wrong....
If I was receiving unemployment AND was engaged in an income earning activity which I didn’t report to the IRS, e.g., dealing drugs, selling or bartering stolen goods, etc. and making more money than I could with an honest job, why would I want an honest job?
shocked that the law of unintended consequences rears his ugly head.
Unfunded mandates have a way of going sour
