I don’t understand why they turn voting into rocket science.
It would SEEM that a required ID would help alleviate some of these issues.

I live in NY. I will watch next election and if MY county has these issues, I’ll file suit against the machines.

This isn't run by that idiot woman....Bev Harris from "I only need 5 dollars" fame, is it?

Just caught my eye and sounded familiar.

Happy Thanksgiving!

If it is this obvious that election returns are calculated like tax assessments, why don’t Republicans fight this junk in close elections?

It’s just disgusting that things have evolved in this country so that EVERY election for ANYTHING seems to be subject to all these ‘problems’-—no one seems to want it to be a national priority to clean up the process, apparently because it’s just too much fun and offers too much good old bipartisan anxiety as the challenges and concessions go on.
WHATEVER you might say about NY23 is effectively undermined
by the fact that the Hoffman campaign OFFICIALLY conceded yesterday.

I remember a very SPOOKY White House comment during the day of the election. In the comment, it was said that the President wasn’t paying attention to the NJ and VA races, but was interested in the New York race. That seemed strange in that polls definitely showed NJ to be the closest of the three races (from a Democrat standpoint).

I just wonder, with those electronic voting machines, if the results were already known at the White House prior to the voting even starting. It certainly is possible with the right software.

Photo ID and purple thumbs! Why is the United States of America worse than a war-torn 3rd World country when it comes to elections?

A law passed in each state the requires A:)A photo ID to actually vote and B:)That the number of votes cast equal, or is less than, the number of registered voters in that district. If the number is above the number of registered voters, even by one vote, the election must be held again, would go a long way towards mitigating(not eliminating)voter fraud.

The bottom line conclusions of the author:

"...the numbers do not match up, they do not withstand an audit, and they should not be certified by the State."

"In the certified election results from the above districts, where the voting machines appeared to be working properly, the computer-generated vote counts cannot possibly be accurate as they are showing more votes counted than voters...the fault lies with computerized vote counting and our willingness to trust it."

"Electronic vote counting is much too vulnerable to failure and/or manipulation. If a mechanical (lever-style) machine breaks down, the failure is visible, and only the one machine is affected. With electronic vote counting, one person can change the outcome of an election and not leave a trace. This has been shown over and over again in scientific studies, including those commissioned by the Secretaries of State in California and Ohio.

"But more than that, how can we have a democracy if we cannot know if the vote count is accurate? If election officials cannot know, and if the candidates cannot know, and if the voters cannot know that the official results are true and correct, why even have an election? Why go through the motions?

"In New York State, 232 years of election case law pursuant to the state constitution has strongly upheld the requirement that votes be counted visibly, in public view, and the results proclaimed, before the ballots or the lever machines leave the polling place. It has long been understood that vote counting concealed from the public is a crime waiting to happen. Because electronic vote counting is an invisible process, it flies in the face of tradition and case law."

I’m confused. Isn’t this race being contested and in a recount stage or did the DIMS really steal this election?

Great catch. The only thing positive is that this is only a 1 year term. They have to vote again in 2010 and we’ll be watching.
