WINDERMERE, Fla. -- Golfer Tiger Woods was seriously injured when he hit a fire hydrant and then a tree outside of his Isleworth home early on Friday morning, officials said.

The Florida Highway Patrol said Woods was seriously injured and taken to Health Central Hospital. The Orange County Fire Department confirmed that a patient was taken to Health Central, but would not confirm that the patient was Woods.

Woods was driving a 2009 black Escalade, FHP said. He hit a fire hydrant outside of his home and a tree outside his neighbor's home.

FHP said the crash is still under investigation.

Update: Authorities: Tiger Woods hurt in Fla. car crash

.............. this golf club story seems to be the updated story of angry wife chasing hubby around with a ‘rolling pin.’

I can’t imagine a golf club not snapping upon impact on windshield glass. I’ve broken mine hitting hard ground.

To: Does so

A few years ago a woman driving a Mercedes SUV turned a corner near my house going about 35 mph. It was dark and she was old and missed the street by a few feet, jumping the curb and slamming into — and OVER the fire hydrant.

Water spewed out with huge force, blocking part of street and sidewalk and threatening roof of home as torrent of water was so powerful. The car settled ON TOP of the hydrant which is what saved the roof of the house from cave-in.

The woman, however, was PERFECTLY FINE — and was quickly removed from the vehicle without a scratch. She WAS charged with unsafe driving and was billed by the city for all the water and fix of the hydrant. It was a mess.

Now tell me how Tiger Woods could’ve been in and out of consciousness after that huge heavy vehicle hit a hydrant and then a tree. Could not have been going very fast when it made contact with tree after the hydrant part of this.

It is all very suspicious indeed. I wish that next door neighbor had been home and heard something as homes are very close together there. Maybe they did, and we just don’t know about it yet. OTOH, if it’s another sports star or similar, they would probably go along with cover up. The whole thing sounds odd; glad it was not in L.A. this time.

You were saying ...

You’re right, looks like he would have had to turn to his left, while backing, to avoid the tree.... guess he got distracted. The fire hydrant would have been the second point of impact.

I'm not sure what you're looking at, so I thought I would include this picture, again, in this same (it's there earlier).

To me, it looks like he would back out of his driveway (or maybe he drove out forwards...), and then would drive normally out to the main street. At that point, he comes to the fire hydrant first and then he comes to the tree.

As we all know...Tiger is an educated and successful man. This gal was in college briefly, had a brief modeling career as a teenager, and became a nanny.

Apparently, their relationship was rocky from the start...

“As the fiancee of the world’s top golfer, Elin Nordegren soon started feeling the pressure of being thrust into the celebrity spotlight. As rumors of the end of their relationship spread through the tabloids following her conspicuous absence from the 2004 Player’s Cup, Tiger Woods felt it was necessary to go on record in September 2004 to deny all allegations of an alleged blow-up between the couple.”

“Agree — this marriage won’t last much longer — count on it.”

I read that she admired the relationship Yoko Ono had with John Lennon, and that she hoped her relationship with Tiger would be similar.
Yessir, Tiger’s in trouble;))

He should have asked for a mulligan on that drive.

I may be all wet then, thought the object in front of the shrubbery at the U was a fire hydrant (may not be) and the tree he hit was the pale one at his drive. LOL, I have nothing more to offer.

All the doors on that vehicle appear to be undamaged....that golf club/back window story is bogus....pretty mean little fender bender though, hard to believe the airbags not going off...

I think Wesley Snipes lives in the house to the left, in the picture. The "other neighbor" that I was talking about is the house on the right.

If you see that little golf cart on the street and the wagon behind it, it's right where the wagon is -- where you'll see the fire hydrant. And the tree is the one on the right side of that driveway.

Odd house. The houses seem awfully close together and not much of a back yard.

Apparently the penalty for playing the wrong hole is the wife gets two strokes with the club of her choice.

Yeah, I kinda wonder about that, too. He sure seemed to be in hurry, backing over a fire hydrant and bouncing into a tree, in his own driveway, no less.
