President Barack Obama ... ... is slated to deliver a prime-time address on Tuesday night in which he'll lay out his plans for the American war in Afghanistan.
The address before the United States Military Academy at West Point on Tuesday night will not only be used to announce the immediate order to deploy roughly 30,000 more troops, but the administration will also use the occasion to convey how it intends to turn the fight over to the Kabul government, the New York Times reported.
But the administration may also face an unforeseen enemy as it lays out its long-awaited plans. And they are loud and they are legion: We're talking about preschoolers and their parents.
That's because ABC-TV was scheduled to present its annual screening of "A Charlie Brown Christmas" at 8 p.m. tomorrow night. And we don't know about you, but that show is pretty sacrosanct around our house and not to be trifled with lightly.
A call to the White House may be in order here. We hear it's pretty easy to get through these days ...

Desiree Rogers is conveniently NOT on the scene for this one!
Gerald McBoing Boing was theatrical, as was Mighty Mouse (until Ralph Bakshi’s 1960s and then 1980s versions) and Heckle & Jeckle.
Andy’s Gang, Howdy Doody, and Kukla Fran & Ollie were weekday programming and live-action.
The Flintstones, Jetsons, and Top Cat (and Huckleberry Hound?) were weeknight programming.
I’m not sure why, but I didn’t pick up on the Johnny Quest show. Looks like I missed out on that one.

But even cable and satellite channels like Cartoon Network don’t seem to show the old classics too much anymore. I’m sure it’s due to pressure from the “PC” left. The same left who wants to indoctrinate our kids with their left-wing political BS every chance they get.
Nice list there. How about Tutor Turtle, Rocky and Bulwinkle, The Professor, and that Royal Canadian Mounty whose name I’m blanking on right now.
BTW, does anyone remember one of the first cartoons that was just a mouse-like figure, with symphony music? Every once in a while they’d have a “?” figure, but that was about it. Those were quite entertaining even without dialogue.
Either of you know about the ‘sequel’?
Get on NetFlix and rent ‘Venture Brothers’. Given the exchanges here, you might just like it (and JQ makes several cameos over the course of the series).
At a point, Time-Life-Warner-Turner would rather you buy DVD collections of their cartoons than just tune in daily to Cartoon Network (where they are turning the Hanna-Barbera characters on their heads an essentially making neutered “tijuana bibles” about them, that’s so “extreeeeeeeme!”).
Post-modernism sucks.

Perhaps that was Oscar, who was the progenitor for Mickey.
Perhaps you might check out ‘Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law’ to see what post-modern revisionism of almost-classic HB characters can work out as. Pretty funny, actually, and you have to be sober to catch most of the jokes.

We taped it years ago. We don’t depend on the networks for anything as we don’t watch them. None of them. So, while obama dithers on tv...we’ll be watching a true Christmas classic with hot chocolate and popcorn and we aren’t even KIDS. :) :) :)
However, if some people DO watch those network shows...they should try using that remote for how it was designed. Mute, change or shut it off. Simple choices.
Us??? We’ll be engrossed in this darling little show that trumps everyone even the President..at least in OUR living room. Merry Christmas everyone!!!
You know, every thread here should have people who disagree on it. And folks should be able to have their say and still converse like we have. That’s how you change minds, not that anyone was supposed to buy my version. That wasn’t my intent at all.

It was only on for a year, largely due to the expense of producing such quality animation, but it is now legendary among animation fans.
If you have even a microliter of testosterone in your system, Jonny Quest is the ticket.
Probably not as appealing to the chicks.
