The Worst Kind Of Scheduling Conflict [Obama Address preempts Charlie Brown Christmas]
Morning Call ^ | November 30, 2009 | John L. Micek.

Posted on 12/01/2009 7:23:23 AM PST by PapaBear3625

President Barack Obama ... ... is slated to deliver a prime-time address on Tuesday night in which he'll lay out his plans for the American war in Afghanistan.

The address before the United States Military Academy at West Point on Tuesday night will not only be used to announce the immediate order to deploy roughly 30,000 more troops, but the administration will also use the occasion to convey how it intends to turn the fight over to the Kabul government, the New York Times reported.

But the administration may also face an unforeseen enemy as it lays out its long-awaited plans. And they are loud and they are legion: We're talking about preschoolers and their parents.

That's because ABC-TV was scheduled to present its annual screening of "A Charlie Brown Christmas" at 8 p.m. tomorrow night. And we don't know about you, but that show is pretty sacrosanct around our house and not to be trifled with lightly.

A call to the White House may be in order here. We hear it's pretty easy to get through these days ...

Now, THAT was good, wholesome entertainment for the WHOLE family.

Um no. Even as a kid I found the Sesame Street childishly insipid. As an adult I certainly wouldn't call it entertainment.

In other words, you still don’t understand? How could you possibly think, given my many other posts on FR (easily checkable), and the content of my FR Home page, and my tag line, that I was pro-Obama? I hope you don’t go recklessly throwing around personal insults like that to people you meet on the street.

No..no...no....Not Sesame Street.

The Muppet Show

An entirely different "muppet" show.

I watched until the band started playing and then couldn’t watch further for the blood running from my eyes.

I actually think rap would be more entertaining..... ;<)

Are you joking, One?? This is the one Christmas cartoon which quotes from the Bible and actually puts the reason for Christmas as its moral. I am surprised you feel this way!

That’s almost as bad as a picture of kerry kissing his wife.
Neither one of them looks like they like what’s going on.

I believe ‘Steamboat Willy’ is just a film title. I think that’s considered to be Mickey piloting the little boat and having to fight it out with the guy who would soon be known as Pegleg Pete. Oscar predates all of this (and nobody watches his cartoons either anymore).

“Two out of two grinches are females. What’s up with that?”

Not a grinch. Just don’t like animated stuff. I do manage to watch every sappy, saccarine, predictable, lame Christmas movie on Hallmark and LMN — much to my husband’s disgust. :)

How do we “change our history”

Since it's never gonna happen, it's all academic.

BTW, I heard that they are doing a remake of Sandford and Son, one of my all time favorite TV shows.

With Michelle starring as Aunt Esther!

If your DVD is a bootleg, customs may hold it. But since there is no “parallel import” (ignoring the domestic edition to buy the foreign market version), customs needs to F.O., it is outside of their office, no matter what Bubba Clinton tried to do for Big Hollywood in the 1990s.

No bootleg. I purchased it legally, in US dollars, three times, a legally sold DVD (in Canada.)
There is no domestic edition available. I tried that first.

Whether customs was legally authorized to seize it, I have no idea.
