Didn’t Andy write that Sarah’s vagina was the source of all evil in the galaxy?

Ooohm, I’m shocked and impressed, he said “vagina”

he’s a putz

Who’s his audience? Conservatives looking to ridicule him

“Leaving The Right”

###

The title itself is a lie.

It is clear that, the hateful and hostile Johnson was never “on the right”, or even close.

Typical, tired, sophomoric liberal shenanigans, which convinces no one.

“I always voted Republican, until......”

I cannot support a movement that claims to believe in limited government but backed an unlimited domestic and foreign policy presidency

Unlimited? It wasnt "unlimitted". Thats hyperbole.

I cannot support a movement that exploded spending and borrowing and blames its successor for the debt.

Only a portion of the debt. The deficit has quadrupled and most of that is your Messiah's fault.

I cannot support a movement that so abandoned government's minimal and vital role to police markets and address natural disasters that it gave us Katrina and the financial meltdown of 2008.

Katrina was Louisiana's failure for the most part, and "policing" the markets was to a great extent the fault of Democraps in Congress (in the majority since 2006, ie Barney Frank among others)

I cannot support a movement that holds torture as a core value.

Give me a effing break on that one. Across the board? You are liars.

I cannot support a movement that holds that purely religious doctrine should govern civil political decisions and that uses the sacredness of religious faith for the pursuit of worldly power.

What the eff? Are you off your meds with this kind of slanderous exaggeration ?

I cannot support a movement that is deeply homophobic, cynically deploys fear of homosexuals to win votes, and gives off such a racist vibe that its share of the minority vote remains pitiful.

Deeply homophobic means against codification of gay marriage? Geez , what bullspit.

I cannot support a movement which has no real respect for the institutions of government and is prepared to use any tactic and any means to fight political warfare rather than conduct a political conversation.

Oh, I see. The left wants to converse, the right won't let them. .Sullivan is such a schmuck.

I cannot support a movement that sees permanent war as compatible with liberal democratic norms and limited government.

Isnt that what Obama is doing? Quick, close your eyes!

I cannot support a movement that criminalizes private behavior in the war on drugs.

Is this something new? Maybe I missed something.

I cannot support a movement that would back a vice-presidential candidate manifestly unqualified and duplicitous because of identity politics and electoral cynicism.

You mean President Ford's former Press Secretary ? Oh.

I cannot support a movement that regards gay people as threats to their own families.

Oh, back to gays again.

I cannot support a movement that does not accept evolution as a fact.

Is that what he's doing ? Youre so full of s&it. Nothing has changed anywhere in the last 50 years; in public education, in laws on th ebooks, in anything. You people are deranged in your obsessions.

I cannot support a movement that sees climate change as a hoax and offers domestic oil exploration as the core plank of an energy policy.

It's not a hoax? Thats funny, I thought that was settled.

I cannot support a movement that refuses ever to raise taxes, while proposing no meaningful reductions in government spending.

You got me there, but Obama is worse. Care to talk about that?

I cannot support a movement that refuses to distance itself from a demagogue like Rush Limbaugh or a nutjob like Glenn Beck.

The other side has genuine "nutjobs", many of whom are in government; Pelosi, Franken, Maxine Waters, the entire Black Congressional Caucus.

I cannot support a movement that believes that the United States should be the sole global power, should sustain a permanent war machine to police the entire planet, and sees violence as the core tool for international relations.

Whatever. Exaggerate your brains out and close your eyes to the current government. Youre hopeless, Steve-b

If Charles Johnson is Gay or Bi then you have your real answer as to why he is leaving.

The list is full of misrepresentations and argumentative assumptions. To cite but two:

1. That what was done to a handful of high-value Gitmo detainees was in fact “torture” is hotly debated. It is disingenuous to BEGIN the debate by saying “I’m against torture” in reference to such actions. Say instead you are against belly slaps and rare waterboarding. Be forthright instead of hiding behind conclusory labels.

2. Blaming successors for the debt? Although Bush overspent like mad and failed to veto the overreachings of Pelosi and Reid in 2007-08, (a) the Dem Congress shares the blame for those budgets, and, more importantly, (b) Obama’s QUINTUPLING of the deficit thereafter is fair game whether or NOT someone piped up about Bush’s overspending.

If you really share Andrew Johnson Sullivan-Charles’s views, I hope you find somewhere else to post. Such views aren’t simply wrong. They’re disingenuous in lying about the starting points. Be liberal if you must, but be honest.

2 of his 16 complaints explicitly deal with gaydom. If he’s not a poofter, I’d be surprised.

I agree 100%. He was never on the right to begin with. Years ago, someone referred me to that site. I would read the articles and comments every now and then. It was too liberal for me then but I just started reading again here and there out of curiosity and the place has become more like a cult for Charles Johnson. He has his loyal followers who immediately jump on any dissenting views. He’s above any kind of real criticism, like a cult leader. Anyone who dares to disagree with him or the prevailing wisdom on that board is immediately pounced on and it’s so obvious that this is their intimidation tactic.

Another one is their little scoring system. I’ve seen people give salient arguments that are dissenting opinions, with no personal attacks at all, be dinged down simply because the cult following doesn’t agree. It’s sickening to watch and is sad to see how the place went from being left of center to right over the edge into looney lefty land. Amazing that it’s mostly the same people who were posting 6 years ago when I would read more often except now so many of them have changed their tune to fit in line with their leader’s change in tune as though their main goal in life is to defend and worship him. They’ve started some sort of paranoid nazi which hunt. Anyone who has ever been in the same room with someone who has made a racist remark is branded a white supremacist. Funny, how they don’t hold Obama to that same standard or anybody on the left to that standard, considering Obama’s 20 year connection to Rev. Wright. What a bunch of pathetic people over there now. They love to paint FR as some sort of forum for right-wing extremists and that is not what I have seen here so far. What I’ve seen is people who are uncompromising on core conservative values. They sure do think of themselves over there as being far more important in the world than they are. They continually put down others like Pamela Gellar, who is far more successful and popular than Charles Johnson. He’s a legend his own mind and in the minds of his faithful followers, but his political blog or whatever the hell it is, is an example of a sick cult following to anyone looking at it objectively.

Come to think of this, it reminds me of my oldest son. When he was about 10 there was a kid that came over to our house with his brother. Every time that kid came over he would ask my son, “do you like me, you really like me, huh’?

One day I heard my son say “no, I don’t like you because you keep asking me if I like you”. LOL

Since I saw this post on FR, I went to check his blog and sure enough, there is an entire thread dedicated to what others in the blogosphere think of him. The guy and his cult followers are obsessed with what others think of him and their little cult. That’s as sad as the fact that he can put his opinions out there but can’t put his big boy pants on and debate like everyone else without the aid of his cult running to his defense right away. How insecure one must be. Go read, it takes about 2 minutes of reading before people who don’t like him are being called racists. Pics of Obama are the result of racism according to these paranoids. How come pics of Pres. Bush as Hitler were not considered racists by these same people? Any criticism of Obama or dislike of him at all.....any poking fun of him, as every other President has endured, is chalked up to racism. These people on there are obsessed with their own false sense of self-importance. Any dissent at all is chalked up to racism or being a homophobe. Typical left-wing tactics but they have long since lost their shock value due to being so abused for so long.

The guy is a drama queen. I don’t give a rats ass if he has trekked to rejoin the left. Don’t threaten, just do it. I suppose for a drama queen it is hard to face the fact that people have moved past him and are no longer interested. It is like we all are supposed to know why. We know why, he is a leftist. Shut up and get in place on the left. He has made it impossible to change minds because he keeps wanting people to know why he left. So what. He is small taters. We have Obama now.

For some reason he wants people to care.

Because he’s so insecure is why. In need of constant validation. It’s not enough to get the constant validation of his small circle of followers who have worshipped him for years. It’s so obvious that his hatred for the “religious right” is driven by the fact that conservatives, for the most part, are not in favor of gay marriage. I think his militant views about atheism and homosexuality blind him and is the prism for which every issue is viewed by him. Conservatives are not, for the most part, in favor of gay marriage and also tend to believe in God, so he is on a vendetta against them. All to validate his own beliefs. Quite a crusade him and his small circle of followers are on. It’s painful to watch their meltdown when I can remember when his blog was actually fairly sane most of the time.
