It would also be likely that since he knows Islamists are brutal to Gays that he would be against them.

You will need to explain to me how you made that leap, which seems to defy the time-space continuum.

Well, whaddaya know...looks like Andy is finally responding to one of Chuck's love letters!

Seriously, though...there's so much here to work with, but let's start with this. Johnson's "Leaving the right" post read like something Keith Olbermann would write if he was a pro-war 15 year old girl pulling down a low D in English and it didn't lay out any ideology other than some brief, unsupported criticism, but Sullivan calls it a "manifesto."

That speaks volumes.

The list of politicians Sullivan claims to have supported suggests that he really doesn't understand politics, ideology, or the Constitution. Or, more bluntly, he's either stupid or psychotic.

Yeah, there were people decieved by Obama and Clinton, but anyone who voted for Ronald Reagan and John Kerry (or even Bob Dole and John Kerry!) is a loon.

Sullivan and grease should not be used in the saem sentence. To many disturbing thoughts come to mind.

Sullivan’s been out for years. He even got “married” to (not surprisingly) another dude who strongly resembles him.

BTW, read the dude’s wikipedia page and you’ll wonder why anyone ever either regards him as a conservative of any stripe (he edited the bloody New Republic, for Pete’s sake) or reads him at all...he is badly damaged goods, and has admitted he continued to have unprotected sex after being diagnosed with HIV.

Andrew has to be pretty self-centered to think that anyone will care much about his opus -- and the other farewell arias he's delivered over the years. It's also strange that he publishes yet another one of these now, when few people have considered him to be a conservative since he endorsed John Kerry in 2004.

But Andrew Sullivan always was a bit daft. Remember the big to-do when he started out: "Andrew Sullivan is a gay, conservative Catholic Englishman who edits The New Republic. He's gay and Catholic! He's English, but lives over here! He's "conservative" but edits a "liberal" magazine!" It all sounded a bit like a pitch for a new sitcom that failed because they couldn't find anyone equally wacky to pair up with him.

And really, who talks about a "conservative movement" anymore? There hasn't been one of those in ten years or so. And Andrew wasn't much of a part of it even when there was one.

If you read this carefully, you can see that it's the thoughts not of somebody who's beginning to have doubts, but of somebody who's gone over to the other side some time ago, and can't write about his former "movement" save in the terms that liberals do.
