Muslim radicalisation gains momentum in US
The Telegraph ^ | 12/11/2009 | Jim Mannion

Long feared by US intelligence, Muslim radicalisation is gaining momentum in the United States, which has had a spate of cases featuring youths recruited and trained overseas for jihad.

The latest case - five US nationals arrested in Pakistan on Wednesday on suspicion of plotting an attack - deepened concern that militant Islamist groups are successfully enlisting potential attackers inside the United States, much as they have in Britain.

(snip)

"We've known for several years that al-Qaeda and its allies like Lashkar-e-Taiba have put a high priority on recruiting assets in the Pakistani communities in the United States, and the United Kingdom, the rest of the world," said Bruce Riedel, a former CIA official.

(snip)

The US intelligence community gave warning in a 2007 assessment that the spread of radical websites and a growing number of "self-generating" cells in Western countries "indicate that the radical and violent segment of the West's Muslim population is expanding, including in the United States".

But it noted that the "internal Muslim terrorist threat is not likely to be as severe as it is in Europe".

In the past year alone, however, there have been a dozen cases in the United States involving jihadist plots, attacks and other incidents, some involving homegrown radicals but others with direct links to extremist groups in Pakistan and Somalia.

(snip)

Rick Nelson, a retired naval officer who served with the National Counterterrorism Center, said that the rate of recruitment of US-based Muslims was unknown and pointed to the difficulty of tracking a trend that involves multiple groups with varying objectives.

"There's absolutely active recruiting done by these groups because again these Western individuals hold passports that allow them to travel between countries. It gives them the access, it gives them the new face for their terrorist and extremist ideologies,"

As expected, this article is not in a US based outlet. No way, none, zero, nada, zip, that the US MSM will even touch this subject.

Cowards.

BTW, it’s not “radicalization”. As the number of muslims increase, the true face of islam is exposed.

Electing a Muslim as president did nothing to appease our enemies.

as people become more and more desperate and disenfranchised with our govt due to loss of jobs and inability to support loved ones this kind of behaviour will become more prevalant. People need something to believe in and belong too and when the things they did believe in let them down they look to something else.

no , but it did show them how weak we are and are no longer a strong nation.

to me this equals easy target, a push over when under assault.

perfect example... the SEALS being attacked today

Electing Mohammed Obama gave them cover. He can talk all about peace, his religion of peace, celebrate Ramadan, be the warm fuzzy muslim with the warm smile while they make plans to kill millions of more people.

Mohammed Obama may have a nobel peace prize, but it will cost millions of lives. Bank on it.

Many contend Obama is nothing more than a Muslim Operative destroying America from within.

Once again we read this in a foreign media source. The MSM and others like them will not wake up. I even think should an event happen that is big time, they would not believe it as it occurs.
