What climategate really tells us
NY Post ^ | December 12, 2009 | STEVEN F. HAYWARD

AL Gore and the rest of the die-hard climate campaigners are huffing and puffing that nothing in the e-mails and documents that were hacked or leaked from the Climate Research Unit in England have any bearing on what we know about climate change or the political response we should make to deal with it. The entire matter is settled science, don’t you know

— nothing to see here, move along. That’s rich, coming from the same people who told us for more than a decade that findings derived from the CRU’s work constituted the “smoking gun” of human-caused climate change. Gore relied heavily on this work in his climatehorror film “An Inconvenient Truth.”

CRU Director Phil Jones: "As you know, I’m not political. If anything, I would like to see the climate change happen, so the science could be proved right, regardless of the consequences. This isn’t being political; it is being selfish."

This is hardly a statement of one who is confident that "The Science is Settled". It is the statement of a insecure fool.

The truth will be revealed.

New and honest analysis of the climate data will not have the dramatic effects that were so notorious in the IPCC reports. It will be all over the board and therefore quiet the storm except for the real hard core alarmists. They have admitted to jazzing things up or they will not get attention. The truth will not be jazzy nor sexy and therefore will push down the fervor in signing carbon legislation. The future for new green mandates is now weakened.

Since 1945 to 1975 the temperature on the globe decreased, and that is why Global Cooling had been the much heralded fear, see Newsweek’s cover (4/28/75). If the IPCC models were right about CO2, why did temperatures decrease in the face of the largest industrialization in the history of the planet. More coal and oil were burned in those 30 years than all of the years of history combined, yet the temperature declined! An idiot could say there is not a direct causal relationship between CO2 and global temps, why couldn’t Gore.

Global Warming has been about Mau-Mauing governments, politicians, universities, media people and the public at large and the Alarmists have been very successful. It has helped them that the media leans left and supports their position. The attacks they make on dissenters goes far beyond academic disagreement and gentile critique but they deliberately pursue vicious personal attacks as revealed by the liberated emails.

The worst is the sick credo preached by the hard core environmentalists and that is summed up by the following quote:

“The only hope for the world is to make sure there is not another United States: We can’t let other countries have the same number of cars, the amount of industrialization, we have in the U.S. We have to stop these Third World countries right where they are. And it is important to the rest of the world to make sure that they don’t suffer economically by virtue of our stopping them.” — Michael Oppenheimer, Environmental Defense Fund
