Palin supports McCain '100 percent' [Palin pushes back at TMZ 'disprespect' meme]
Politico ^ | Dec. 16, 2009 | Mike Allen

Posted on 12/16/2009 4:38:39 PM PST by Al B.

Declaring that she “was honored and proud to run with him,” former Alaska governor Sarah Palin pushed back hard Wednesday against a report that she had disrespected Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) by blacking out his name on a sun visor she wore on vacation.

The website TMZ accused Palin of “a frontal attack on Sen. John McCain” during a Hawaii vacation this week: “Sarah chose to wear a visor from her campaign -- a visor that was emblazoned with the former presidential candidate's name ... that is, until Palin redacted McCain's name with a black marker.”

But Palin said in a statement to POLITICO that she was just trying to “be incognito” -- to go unrecognized and shield her children and husband, Todd, from paparazzi.

The hotel where she was staying had to chase away five photographers, a friend said.

Palin said in the statement to POLITICO: “I am so sorry if people took this silly incident the wrong way. I adore John McCain, support him 100 percent and will do everything I can to support his reelection. As everyone knows, I was honored and proud to run with him. And Todd and I were with him in D.C. just a week ago. So much for trying to be incognito."

The Palins were taking a break from a three-and-a-half-week book tour for her million-copy-selling memoir, “Going Rogue: An American Life.” Palin has signed more than 59,000 books -- an average of 1,750 per stop -- and has traveled more than 19,000 miles by plane and bus. She has spent 115 hours -- or 4.8 days -- signing books in 33 cities in 25 states. Her stops have included five military bases.

LOL. A democrat is a democrat is a democrat, and we need to keep and take back senate seats.

Have a hot fudge sundae. You’ll feel better. :)

Onyx, politics is confusing enough without playing the game of misleading people out of loyalty. I know that’s not what Sarah intended to do, but that’s what it turns out to be in the end.

Young people who are trying to figure out who Sarah is, can now safely say, she agrees with McCain 100%. I don’t personally believe that, but it is what she telegraphed through this statement. And this is something that I too expected, her mishandling of certain issues due to inexperience.

As much as I like Sarah, this is her number one problem. She doesn’t understand the right, and how this is a betrayal of sorts to them.

Does she agree with McCain/Kennedy?
Does she agree with closing Gitmo?
Does she agree with bringing the detainees to the U.S.?
Does she also think Obama should have been praised for his military cutbacks earlier this year?
Does she also think we have nothing to fear from Obama?
Does she also think the Democrat party is made up of fine Americans?
Does she think we should sign the LOST Treaty?
Does she think we should be a part of the ICC?

I mean where does it end, this 100% support for John McCain?

I think it was wise to have a conservative voice under McCain during the run up last year, but is it wise to telegraph you agree with the man 100% now in light of his history?

We are searching desperately for a person who can lead us out of the wilderness, and this woman just said she supports a blind man 100%.

The prospect of John McCain being around for another six years is as disconcerting to me as having Obama around for the next three.

He short circuits our cause continually, and by God he just did it again.

You do see that don’t you? Sarah didn’t do herself any favors here, and that’s the absolute last thing I want to see.

Folks, can’t we be honest even with ourselves? Is this going to turn into another BushBot type of thing where we can’t be totally honest with ourselves until after the administration has blown out the national debt by 87% in eight years?

I want Sarah to be the next President. This simply isn’t up to snuff and we all know it.

John McCain is a pig in a poke, and there’s no other way to put it. 100%? My God...

But what they were saying is true. I agree with them.

I also think Ron Paul is a wing-nut.

Judge their comments on their accuracy. It’s doesn’t matter who they support, if the statements were accurate, and they were.

TMZ should go to hell. Stick with trashing those people who trash their own lives.

Appreciate you jumping onboard.

While on this thread earlier was also doing some FRmails
some some of the folks.

There are the Trolls, the Uneducated, the Malcontents,
The people who don’t see the big picture, just look at everything through a straw.
No wonder we Republicans have a tough time with all the above on FR.

Hildy a nice gal, but McCain voted against Sotomayer, going though against BomaCare, supports winning the war, etc.
The Democrat who will run against McCain will be a soldier for Boma.

Well, it reveals the mindset of those who are attacking Sarah.

First of all, we don't know if Sarah is going to actively campaign for McCain in the Arizona Republican primary, and if McCain does get the nomination, we don't know if she will actively campaign for him in the general election.  I can't imagine she will do that – so in this regard I would want to wait and see how strong her commitment is to seeing McCain win re-election.

But the fact the Ron Paul is critical of the Iraq war and has been critical of the recent fiscal policies of the GOP in Congress shows where he stands, and in any event his supporters reveal more about where they stand by not criticizing Obama as much as they criticize some GOPers.

No, I vowed in Washington, DC that I would support whomever supported the Constitution, no matter what letter was after his/her name. I meant it then and I mean it now.

Excuse me, I will support whomever supports the Constitution. Chances are it will not be the Democrat, but the days of blind voting are over..and you’re talking to someone who is very involved in Arizona Republican politics now. I am not alone.

JD is going to run. He had a big debt from his last campaign he needed to take care of. Apparently, that’s almost done. The inside word is that he’s going to announce soon. He’ll be speaking at one our Lincoln Day Dinner’s in February. He’s running. My friend who is a State Legislator, told me the inside party polls have JD AHEAD of McCain. Two days ago McCain came out with a survey saying that he was 20 points ahead of JD...Why do you think he would do that before J.D. even announces? HE’S SCARED..that’s why.

Hayworth is *considering* running SoCalPol.

If he runs anyone that supports McLame in the primary is wrong, period. I hope Palin would not do that. If she wants to stay neutral out of ‘respect’ for McPain I’m fine with that. If Hayworth enters and she campaigns for McCain she will be making a mistake, not as bad as Santorum and Bush pulling Specter over the finish line but still a big mistake that will turn off conservative voters.

This has not yet happened so castigation of Palin is premature.

If Hayworth doesn’t run anyone that supports McCain over his announced challenger Chris Simcox is also wrong though it would be understandable since Simcox will not come close to winning unfortunately because too many people share your view of him.

Speaking of which why is Simcox “beyond the frige”? McCain is beyond the fringe of a reliable conservative. I’m not that will say he’s as bad as DIBALOs like Lympy Snowe, he’s well to her right, but he ain’t my kind of Republican. He’s always been the first one to line up to play footsy with the rats and the liberal media.

Re: Immigration, I don’t think many people are for “rounding them up” I don’t see how that could be done. The thing to do is punish employers who hire them, Arrest and deport them when are they caught driving without a license (don’t give them any ID, don’t give them a bus card, a library card, nothing).

I’m a free market guy so part of me doesn’t like the idea of going after employers but it is a necessary step if you want to solve the problem, along with sealing the border using whatever means.

D1, I completely understand your point of view and where you’re coming from and I agree with you that her comments will be misunderstood by innocents and purposely miscontrued by her detractors. If I have one criticism of her, it is her unabashed honesty and desire to quickly answers questions posed to her. She answered from her heart, and in doing so, she supplied more information than “we think” was necessary.

Reportedly, she said,

“I am so sorry if people took this silly incident the wrong way. I adore John McCain, support him 100 percent and will do everything I can to support his reelection. As everyone knows, I was honored and proud to run with him. And Todd and I were with him in D.C. just a week ago. So much for trying to be incognito.”

To parse her statement: She adores him, (OK) supports “him” 100% (OK) and will do everything she can to support his reelection.(OK)

That’s not saying she supports his policies. She supports her friend. She does say will support his reelection to the US senate.

She hasn’t articulated her policies on the issues you have listed, but I think she may have expressed her opposition to the closing of GITMO and bringing the detainees to our soil? She’s recently separated herself from McCain on global warming, and she’s always differed with him on drilling in ANWR.

I don’t think she’s into praising Obama either, -— death panels -— but again, we need to give her time. She’s not a candidate yet. She is a conservative, and also a ‘maverick’ when it comes to fighting corruption within her own party.

She’s done superbly since she’s been calling her own shots, but there will be times, (like this) when she provides too much information.

I was hoping to see McCain defeated in the AZ primary. I am still holding out that hope, but if Sarah gets involved in the primary, then her reputation is on the line too. UGH and UGH.

The fossil should have had the grace and sense to retire. But no. That addiction to DC power must be awfully intense.

FR mail coming soon. There’s some things I do not want to post on the forum.

JD had better announce right after the first of the year so McCain can ‘get sick’ or announce a recurrence of his skin cancer and drop out.
