(A Remorseful Obama Voter): Dreading our future
www.nypost.com ^ | December 20, 2009 | MICHAEL GOODWIN

Posted on 12/20/2009 7:48:02 AM PST by Publius804

I am a baby boomer, which is to say my life has coincided with turbulent and awesome times. From the Cold War to Vietnam, from Watergate to Monicagate, through the horrors of 9/11 and the stunning lifestyle advances, my generation's era has been historic and exciting.

Yet for all the drama and change, the years only occasionally instilled in me the sensation I feel almost constantly now. I am afraid for my country.

I am afraid -- actually, certain -- we are losing the heart and soul that made America unique in human history. Yes, we have enemies, but the greatest danger comes from within.

Watching the freak show in Copenhagen last week, I was alternately furious and filled with dread. The world has gone absolutely bonkers and lunatics are in charge.

Mugabe and Chavez are treated with respect and the United Nations is serious about wanting to regulate our industry and transfer our wealth to kleptocrats and genocidal maniacs.

Even more frightening, our own leaders joined the circus. Marching to the beat of international drummers, they uncoupled themselves from the will of the people they were elected to serve.

President Obama, for whom I voted because I believed he was the best choice available, is a profound disappointment. I now regard his campaign as a sly bait-and-switch operation, promising one thing and delivering another. Shame on me.

Instead of provoking thought and inspiring ideas, the man hailed for his Ivy League nuance insists we stop thinking and do what he says. Now.

You all know where this leads. The only thing 0bama and really, his minders need is sufficient teeth to force us into line. Or into cattle cars. Believe me, they're working on it.

This asshat didn’t know what Obummer was all about??????

All he had to do was minimal research. Voting present does not qualify you to be President.

Didn’t he listen, really listen, to any of his speeches? Sounded like a friggen Marxist to me!

Thanks asshat!!!!!!!! You are a true journalist! s/

I am so pissed off right now with DC and this arrogant jerk in the Whitehouse. This country is screwed.

And it's not like the information wasn't there, even the lapdog media had to report things eventually, like the Rev Wright damning America, Hussein's dedication to "wealth redistribution", his ties to the anti-American Ayres, etc. It was right there, it wasn't something only political junkies would know. They chose to disregard this information, because the hype made them feel so good about themselves. They cherished their own self-regard in voting for this enemy of America, just unbelievable. The saddest thing is that if another Obama came along tomorrow hyping "hopenchange" and being a candidate who makes them feel good about themselves, they'd vote for him again rather than try to educate themselves regarding said candidate's record and stated beliefs as a whole. They'd do it again. Decades of bread and circuses, academic indoctrination, and a public which has been taught to believe that it's all about them and their immediate gratification and constant entertainment, have ensured this kind of shallow American-Idol watching electorate. Then you have the various "victim" groups who will identify with the next symbol of their own interests, and have no stake in this country as non-hyphenated Americans.

“Shame on me.” Yes, shame on you and the rest of the idiots that voted for him. Unfortunately the rest of us are going to have to pay the price of your moronic choice.

“If it were only Obama it could be stopped, the entire Democrat party is the disaster on the country.”

That's a fact. The Democrat party at one time was semi-admirable, and could boast some real champions (Zell Miller, Ronald Reagan — yes, RR was a Democrat before the party left him; and many, many more). However, the left knew it could not make any inroads by itself, and it concluded that the best way for it to become powerful and inluential was to infiltrate and eventually take over one of the two preeminent political parties. It reasoned, correctly, that the most likely party for takeover was the Democrat party, and the left pursued that goal with a vengeance, and succeeded beyond even its own wildest projections.

No person of conservative or moderate sensibility could possibly support a federal takeover of the massive health system.

He knows this, and yet he voted for Obama. An open admission that he's a fool, a jackass, and an idiot.

I believed he was the best choice available

Why? Did this guy buy the hype? I think there are many more remorseful voters like this guy.

Could not have said it better myself. America elected an arrogant, condescending, America-loathing, racist, dishonest, empty suit of a man with absolutely no experience and very questionable associations. Why could 60 million of us see that and the other 69 million could not?

All of the entitlements need to be be repealed, because they are destroying our country. Time to push back!

I tend to agree!! They are going to do this regardless of what the American’s want! I just wish they would drop the pretences!

To borrow a phrase from the great one in the WH, I would like to “get in the face” of these morons and say what were you thinking?? You honestly didn’t expect this garbage to be happening? There was no excuse for that.

I don’t have that much of a problem with people who honestly believe in socialism and big government. They are the minority. The ones who doomed us were the millions who believed all the hype, or thought we needed change because “Bush destroyed the world,” or 0 would bring us all together and all that garbage. And I wont even get into the people who voted only on the basis of race. They are not worth our time.

“We can’t, and won’t, ‘come together’. The differences among us are too great. Just like the Israel/Arab conflict, one side must win, one side must lose.”

Agreed. We’ve passed beyond the point where any reconciliation was possible. There are very dark days ahead.

The sad part about it is Obama will create a crises just before the next election and (with the total help of his teleprompter), mesmerize the same idiots into voting for him again.

This guy is too conservative to have really voted for Obama. I think if he did he probably thought that Obama would be god’s gift to the GOP which he indeed has become. He can probably feel good about himself.

One of my oldest and best friends voted for the Bozo. I no longer talk to her. I am sure she is sorry now but the damage is done and I will not associate with someone who had the intelligence to recognize what an a**hat Bozo is and still voted for him. People were just so anxious to erase “white guilt” that their brains went south on them.

“Frigging Baby Boomers!!”

Don’t throw all the blame on us! You’ll note that the young voters (i.e., 18 - 30 year olds) overwhelmingly voted for Hugo Obama, whereas the boomers split their vote 50/50, with the older boomes (like me) voting AGAINST ObaMugabe.

There’s no true remorse coming out of these people. What they’re SAD (or should I say MAD) about is that Barry is such a f@%k up, that the people who voted for him look like a bunch of idiots now for believing this farce.
