My money says Israel does NOT wait for the first hit, and they bomb /sub missile Iran one way or another, with or without U.S. support.
I hope so too, and I consider the possibility that Israel may be letting Zer0 paint himself into a corner (taking the US with him).
Suppose this, Zer0 continues killing the US economy, shifting private jobs to government jobs and business and manufacturing overseas. Then he signs up for environmental reparations to "poor" countries.
Zer0 thinks the consequences for the American taxpayer won't show till after the 2012 election. What would happen to the US economy if we had an Arab oil embargo of America in say May of 2010?
Who could make sure that this happened?

Who would not interfere? Right, Russia.
Who would take up the market supply slack? Right, China and India.
Who would quit buying US debt? Right, China.

Unless the Israeli’s can block oil from Canada, Mexico, and Venezuela, the US will have access to oil. It is also a mistake to think that it would be a bad thing that China quits buying our debt. The only way to stop and reverse the growth of this government tumor is real economic consequences.
Unless the rest of the world can knock off our Navy, we will continue to be the lone super power in the world. In my estimation, the consequence of an economic collapse would only result in a more isolationist US. US isolationism would create more instability around the world, but not completely destroy American power.
