Can Sarah Palin lead US Republicans to victory?
ABC ^ | 12-21-09 | Michael Brissenden

The expansive asphalt parking lot in Fair Lakes Shopping Center in Fairfax Virginia was full and there wasn't a single Prius in sight. This is SUV territory and the campaign sticker on the back window of one big Ford summed up the mood: a play on the Obama campaign mantra of hope, this one said simply - "Nope".

There are not too many Obama fans in Fairfax but there are hundreds of people prepared to line up for hours in the snow for a chance to meet the one political figure they believe might still be able to rescue the nation from "socialised medicine", "Liberal intellectuals" and "elitist" newspapers like the New York Times.

Sarah Palin's book Going Rogue is the publishing sensation of the moment here.

In that poll, Governor Palin is more respected than Al Gore and Biden.

By the way, the full list of the most respected people is:

Barack Obama 28

Colin Powell 27

Bill Clinton 21

George W. Bush 17

Hillary Clinton 14

Sarah Palin 13

John McCain 13

Dick Cheney 9

Al Gore 8

Joe Biden 3

I kept hearing again and again how hussien wasn’t going to win last time. Guess what? He won.

I’ll believe he’s toast when I see that he’s toast.

If the republicans screw up like they have a solid history of doing, we’ll have 8 years of hussein obama.

I read more than a few know-it-alls (I am not implying that you are one of them) that said there was no way obama would win. We live in a nation with some truly stupid people. They heard all the rev. Wright stuff, knew about bill ayers, knew about hussein’s muslim and socialist past but still voted for him. I don’t have enough confidence in the American people to think he’s toast.

And if you think he won’t get the democratic nomination, you’re way off. He just got 60 votes (every damn one of these pigs) for a useless POS heathcare plan.

trying to knock out our leading conservative."

This is the grotesque arrogance of the Palinphiles that is most obnoxious.

The TRUTH to you is arrogant. ENOUGH of your name calling. Sarah IS THE BEST CONSERVATIVE CANDIDATE.

And WHY are you on every Sarah thread trashing her? Because YOU ARE OBSESSED with Sarah!

I don’t disagree but don’t discount the power of emotion. It is an important part of the equation.

Only Sarah Palin can lead the Republican Party to victory.

Right now, the RNC phones are burning up the wires with their beg-a-thon for more money to save us all from this healthScare disaster.

They don't care about the country, our freedom, or anything else but raising money for the party, and the worse the Democrats stick it to us, the more money the RNC can squeeze out of the loser among the voters.

The RNC has to be cut off completely. Not one dime, not one penny, until they support conservative candidates in every single congressional district and senate race, and those conservatives are elected to office.

I support individual candidates and SarahPAC, not the RNC.

It's our party. We built it. We funded it. And we will either take it back, or it can die from starvation.

I can’t help but notice that while you don’t name a candidate, you sure as hell know that you don’t want. You don’t want the leading conservative in there, and years before 2012 and one year before mid term elections, you want to do what you can to minimize her effect on advancing the conservative agenda in national politics.

There are DOZENS of quality conservative Republicans out there.

Name them. Who out there, besides Ron Paul, is rallying Conservatives with anything approaching Palin's effectiveness?

The site of hussein makes me want to throw up.

I won’t the Republicans to have a real candidate this next time. I don’t want some McLame again. I won’t the Republicans to have someone that will bury the liberals.

very unfortunate baggage (i.e., she quit as governor

Let's stop carrying that libRAT mantra. She quit to save the state the unseen millions in legal fees from the no-end-in-sight frivolous lawsuits...and to be free to voice her opinions and follow her path, unshackled by political office.

But if you're stuck on the 'quit' button = why was it alright for the freshman senator from Illinois to not serve out his term? Or any other politician likewise.

Her 'quitting' is a mute point...except as a punching bag for the libRats. Why play along with them?

Regarding her resignation, she has a perfectly, valid explanation. Dozens of baseless and frivolous ethics complaints were being filed against her (mostly by one obsessed woman). Unlike most states, Alaska does not pay for the governors legal defense.

As a result the complaints were pushing her family towards bankruptcy and crippling the governor’s office. For the good of her family and the taxpayers of Alaska, she resigned.

Regarding her oratory skills, they are superb. She electrified crowds all across America, gave an outstanding acceptance speech at the RNC and bested Joe Biden in the VP debate. With plenty of time on her hands to sharpen her skills, she will be even better in 2012.

I hope people like DeMint come to their senses between now and 2012. Conservatives need all hands on deck. “

I really like DeMint.
He is really fighting the conservative fight right now.
As for Romney, sure the SRM will fight to the hilt ty get him to win the Republican Primaries, same as they fought to get McCain elected. As usual, if Romney were to win the primaries, the SRM will immediately rurn on him and try an destroy him on behalf of their leader, 0bozo. The good news is, with the strength of the Tea Parties, Romney is going to find it hard to win, even with SRM support and strong backing from the RNC.

The GOP establishment - including conservative stalwart Limbaugh - picked Romney last year.

Caught up in that short window of madness involving McCain and 2008, Rush showed a preference for Romney over McCain, who he hates, but he never endorsed Romney, and he no longer mentions him.

As a "conservative stalwart" Rush is already on the Governor Palin band wagon, although we are years away and there is no pressure or desperation, Rush has been glowing in his enthusiasm and praise for Governor Palin.

Palin is the best retail politician of the 21st century, so far.

Yes, she could win.

In a debate with Obama, she would mock his scholarly positions with "platitudes"...while wiping the floor with him.

Sure, he's smarter, has more "background" knowledge...but it won't matter.

her folksy mannerisms is, quite frankly, tooth-grindingly irritating.

how "elitist" of you. How's the air up there?

I think most of us apprecitate a 'real' person as apposed to the majority of politicians = the overwhelming percentage of which are lawyers who are first taught the cornerstone of the legal profession: Lie, obsfucate, cheat, dirty deal, - all with no "you betchas" =

I'll take a real person - who would be a true REPRESENTATIVE of We the REAL people.

Kinda like another 'real people' we had - a non lawyer, plain speak guy/
