Dems Ensure America Will No Longer Be the Last Best Hope of Earth
Dennis Prager ^ | 12/22 | Dennis Prager

As the passage of the bill that will start the process of nationalizing health care in America becomes almost inevitable, so, too, the process of undoing America's standing as The Last Best Hope of Earth will have begun.

That description of America was not, as more than a few Americans on the left believe, made by some right-wing chauvinist. It was made by President Abraham Lincoln in an address to Congress on Dec. 1, 1862.

The bigger the American government becomes, the more like other countries America becomes. Even a Democrat has to acknowledge the simple logic: America cannot at the same time be the last best hope of earth and increasingly similar to more and more countries.

Either America is unique, in which case it at least has the possibility of uniquely embodying hopes for mankind — or it is not unique, in which case it is by definition not capable of being the last best hope for humanity — certainly no more so than, let us say, Sweden or the Netherlands.

Indeed, President Obama acknowledged this in April, when asked by a European reporter if he believes in American exceptionalism. The president's response: "I believe in American exceptionalism, just as I suspect that the Brits believe in British exceptionalism and the Greeks believe in Greek exceptionalism."

The president was honest. In his view, as in the view of today's Democratic party, America is special only in the same way we parents regard our children as "special." We all say it and we all believe it, but we know that it is meaningless except as an emotional expression of our love for our children.

If Obambi were a football coach, he would forfeit half the games in order to be “fair” to the other teams. I sure wish we had a president who was on our side.

"Indeed, President Obama acknowledged this in April, when asked by a European reporter if he believes in American exceptionalism. The president's response: 'I believe in American exceptionalism, just as I suspect that the Brits believe in British exceptionalism and the Greeks believe in Greek exceptionalism.'"

Moral equilavency at its absolute worst!

In the history of civilization, there is no other nation which incorporated into its constitutional structure for self-government the unique idea that the life, liberty and basic laws to protect them are endowed by the Creator, therefore, inalienable.

That fact, in and of itself, made the America of the Founders unique and special in all the history of the world. And, that fact, and the man-made laws emanating from it, caused America to be a beacon of liberty in the world and a place where millions of oppressed people from all over the globe fled for freedom, opportunity, and sanctuary.

The arrogance of those who, today, wish to appease tyrannical dictators in order to accumulate power to themselves by pretending moral equivalency between the ideas of liberty and the counterfeit ideas of tyranny are a cancer on the noble history of the American Republic.

HAHA...nope. Democrats don't acknowledge simple logic, they fail to recognize it even when it's in front of their face.

The US constitution was written in such a way as to limit the power of government to interfere with our lives. Laws were supposed to limit criminal activity, but not prescribe how we are to conduct our lives.

The EU constitution is a laundry list of citizen rights—in other words, it spells out what citizens are allowed to do.

There’s a world of difference between being told what you can’t do, and being told what you are allowed to do.

The last best hope now becomes: When Obama signs the bill, it will not be legal, as he is not qualified to be president. We can't wait for two years. It may be a “Hail Mary” but it's all we have.

This will do so much damage to our health system that it can not be undone except by more government intervention. And this speaks nothing about aborting the economic recovery.

As a case for reasonable cause, it is that he does not share American values: he goes out in the world and apologizes for things our country has done that I AM PROUD OF!

Now that the children of the immigrants have made America just like whatever it was their folks fled from, time for them to go back to the lands of their forefathers.

Oh, BTW, LEAVE THE STUFF ~ you won't need it.

“Obama is going to go the same way as Tiger”

The only blonde I can remember seeing Obama with is Hillary. He has a very long way to go before he can be compared to Tiger.

Actually, there is something oddly inoffensive about the choices Obama made in paralleling American exceptionalism: he chose the two Old World countries which actually have something of a claim to a corresponding historical exceptionalism.

Britain gave the world trial-by-jury and when its Empire bestrode the world spread that benefit, and British conceptions of property rights and parliamentary democracy to such far flung places as Australia, Canada, New Zealand, India and Botswana (the one place it really seems to have stuck in Africa),and indeed, the United States, though we shook off the imperial yoke early.

Greece passed on the very notion of democracy, and even separation of Church and state (the so-called Byzantine symphony of powers), but was also the cultural crucible in which classical Christianity, and, I would argue, the modern conception of person on which the modern understanding of human rights rests, were forged by the Ecumenical Councils. (Our Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, whose birth most of us commemorate today, was the first person to whom the modern understanding of person as hypostasis, rather than mere prosopon, was applied.)

American exceptionalism is, in fact, built on the patrimony of British and Greek exceptionalisms.

No the U.S. is not the last best hope of earth. Actually, the U.S. has never been that. If it has in some people's minds, they were mistaken. The last best and only hope for the earth is the Messiah of Israel and no one else, nothing else and no other idea, either. In addition, people should -- today -- be aware that this Messiah of Israel is coming back to earth to bring a "world of hurt" who those who are still around. Let's hope that this is not any of those who are reading this...

At Christmas -- a lot of people think about a cute little baby Jesus or a very nice man who said nice things to people, was uplifting, and healed a bunch of people...

What people really need to remember is that there's this "big bad Jewish fellow" out there, who's showing up soon, sorta unexpected, and he's "looking for bear" and is gonna open up "the biggest can of whoop-ass" you've ever seen in your life, on a bunch of people here on earth. LOL...

However, many fail to understand -- but they will "understand" when the Messiah of Israel returns to this earth, sets His feet on the soil of this globe, and sets up the ruling authority -- the one-world government -- that He puts into place over all nations, including the United States.

He's the Messiah of Israel, that He is coming back to earth, to set up a one-world government, with His headquarters in Jerusalem, ruling over all the nations of the world, including the United States and will rule over all who are still alive (from who are living right now today) -- and that He will definitely scrap the Constitution of the United States and make Himself the supreme ruler over all that we do.

The "day of reckoning" is coming for all of those who are trying to take over the world and put it totally under their control in an evil one-world empire. And they do admit that they want a one-world government -- their government, not God's...

When the Messiah of Israel comes back to this earth to set up His one-world government and subject all the nations of the world to His authority and rule -- He'll be making real short work of any of those yahoos...

And you can be sure that He will be utterly destroying anything to do with any of these yahoos, since whatever they say and do is a total perversion of anything to do with the Messiah of Israel.

And for sure -- we all, in this world, need the Messiah of Israel back, here on earth -- to destroy this coming one-world government and to install His own one-world government in its place.

I'm looking forward to the coming Kingdom on earth and the one-world government that the Messiah of Israel will be setting up, after He destroys, by His own hand, the present and evil one-world government that we see forming right now.

    Isaiah 9:6-7

For unto us a Child is born.
    Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
    Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
    Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Of the increase of His government and peace
    There will be no end,
Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom,
To order it and establish it with judgment and justice
From that time forward, even forever.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.

They are ensuring that America will be the last best hope of the socialist revolution on earth.

you can outlaw markets, and they won't go away. ditto for religion. ditto for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

you might as well try to outlaw gravity.
