Colorado Governor Ritter Reportedly Ending Re-Election Bid
Political Wire ^ | January 05, 2010

Posted on 01/05/2010 6:28:48 PM PST by Galactic Overlord-In-Chief

A source tells Political Wire that Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter (D) is ending his re-election campaign. A fundraiser scheduled for tonight was canceled and all campaign staff was sent home in the middle of the day.

The decision does not appear to be fundraising related which has reportedly gone better than expected.

Emails to campaign staff have not been answered.

Update: Marc Ambinder also reports Ritter is dropping bid.

Usually that is the case but Ritter is damaged goods after 4 years of pathetic leadership. He was assured of a landslide loss.

While this pleases me at first, I then suspect that some dem will run as a moderate and try to gain votes from both sides and if elected show the true libtard that they are.

I bet he saw that he wasn’t looking good in the election and they are trying to put some other idiot in his place.

Yes, only Republican in the Executive Branch is John Suthers the State AG who is filing papers with other Republican AGs contesting the Senate Health Care bill.

Throw the names Stephanie Villafuerte and Cory Voorhis at Ritter, and it’s like garlic to a vampire. It must be done repeatedely and publicly, before Ritter slinks away to save face and save his future employment/earnings/income options. .

IF true, great news for Colorado.

Now if only the GOP can find someone with the political cojones to win. Not sure Scott McInnis is the answer.

Maybe this is the Dems strategy. Put someone in fresh where they know they will lose with an incumbent.

ObamaNation could be in full retreat.

I am not sure we want to see the total collapse of a Presidency, but it cannot be any worse than the success of Obama’s Presidency.

I do. I want 0bozo to completely & utterly fail in EVERYTHING he does or attempts to do. I would love to see his entire administration utterly collapse & fail as well. The only way we will ever really get rid of this kenyan affirmative-action, socialist-fascist-commie pig usurper is for him to fail so completely & devastatingly that he will never be restored, including the demoRAT socialist party. I could care less about his skin color, it is his demonic, anti-American agenda & ideology that he is trying to forcibly impose upon the American people. In fact I would love to see a special prosecutor appointed to investigate election fraud, if in fact 0bozo is NOT a U.S. citizen, let alone a non-natural born U.S. citizen and to try & convict him for election fraud.

Either the polls are terrible or there is a scandal about to break?

Not sure Scott McInnis is the answer.

There's always Tom Tancredo. I hear he's looking for a job.

Use to like Tancredo, a lot. That is, until he endorsed Romney in 2008.

I am just curious ... for those FReepers from Colorado, what Republican short list would you perhaps LIKE to see as governor?

There is a scandal brewing.

Ritter got ICE agent Corey Vorhiss fired for whistle-blowing during Ritter's campaign for Governor. Prior to Ritter's run for governor he had been the Denver District Attorney and had been letting illegal immigrant criminals off the hook by reducing their charges (sometimes serious felony charges) to "agricultural trespass." This allowed them to avoid deportation. Vorhiss blew the whistle.

It's a long story, but Stephany Villafuerte, a member of Ritter's campaign staff and former DA staffer under Ritter, was nominated by Obama (at Ritter's behest) to be the next US Attorney General for Colorado. She had to withdraw after it became apparent she used her influence in the DA's office (after leaving it) to illegally finger Vorhiss.

It's a MAJOR scandal, and Ritter and, more important, Democratic higher-ups and advisors to Obama, know that his days are numbered. So they are throwing him under the bus.

I wonder why...hmmmmmmmm.

From WaPo: “But Ritter’s political fate has dipped considerably in the intervening years, and he faced an extremely difficult re-election race against former Rep. Scott McInnis (R) in November.”

I think Terrible Tommy would make a good governor.

Scott McIniss is OK, I can live with him.

Bob Beauprez is a good guy but looks to have no shot.

Josh Penry seemed to be a good guy, but dropped out in favor of McInnis. Mays seems to be the best candidate at this time.
