BOSTON — President Barack Obama is coming to Northeastern University in Boston on Sunday to campaign for Democratic Senate candidate Martha Coakley.

It’ll be a quick trip for Obama as he tries to help Coakley against Republican Scott Brown in Tuesday’s election to succeed the late Sen. Edward Kennedy. At stake is the pivotal 60th Senate vote Democrats need to pass Obama’s health care overhaul and prevent a Republican filibuster.

Coakley aides say the event will begin at 1 p.m.

I’m guessing he’s going to Northeastern based on the fact that Teddy’s funeral was right next to the campus. He’ll make some lame comments... “it was just a short time ago when I was down the street at Teddy’s funeral that I made a promise to myself to fulfill his lifelong dream of universal health care. We can’t let Teddy’s memory die!!!”

He's ready to throw her under the bus but doesn't want to get blamed for it.

I attended Northeastern University and it is not in downtown Boston per se....I used to park “across the tracks” which now the site of the Reggie Lewis Athletic Center and Roxbury Community College. You can be sure there will be a large black turnout...exactly the vote the Dems need. The school is easy to get to by subway.

Its the people's seat. Its not a Democratic entitlement. She has to earn it and so far hasn't demonstrated to the voters she's worthy of being their US Senator.

The light-skinned President with the barely noticeable negro dialect (unless he needs it) gives a speech in New England, while dark-skinned people suffer in Haiti. What a travesty!

And I don't HAVE to guess why he didn't choose Boston College instead.

This is more Obama calculated spin. He stayed away until it sounds like Coakley is going to lose. Now he comes to the rescue. If she wins, the press will say Obama saved the day, if she loses, it will be that she screwed up so bad that even Obama couldn’t save her.

It’s also private property that they can keep protestors away from. If he spoke in public he would run the risk of being shouted down. I hope there are plenty of patriots out on the public streets around the campus to give him a piece of their minds.

Unless of course Obama causes the double digit blow out because of his inane leadership.

Yeah I saw it in the Washington Times, a link off Drudge. I have a hard time believing that Obama is at 60, I bet the poll is fixed. This vote is not about Coakly ( thats what the Dems want everyone to belive) and her failure. It is a referendum on the health care bill. The Dems are already throwing Coakley under the bus.

IMHO Obamas MA poll numbers are more like 35% to 40% approval and tanking, just like the rest of the country.

"Campaigning so far from home on a Sunday? But how will he get to church?"

Another FReeper pointed out that obama is going to MASS this Sunday!.

That should fit the going to church requirement for this month.

( I don't recall who the FReeper was or I'd give them the credit)

Good, this clearly ties Obama’s political capital to the race.

Win or lose-this clearly will have a major effect
on strategy going toward November.

I agree with you, I think the WH is absolutely terrified of a Brown landslide. They mistakenly believe they can spin/BS their way out of a close loss by simply blaming it all on a “terrible candidate and campaign.” This is also why we’re hearing about the 51 Senate vote strategy to pass health care, because of an anticipated Brown victory and possible Dem defections.

I really want to believe you Gonzo, but hate?.
I would reckon this similar to George Bush in 2007.
He isn’t disliked by Liberals, but they are dissapointed.

Please tell me how I’m wrong-I’m hoping I am.

He is disliked by liberals. Why do you think so many are resigning the Dem party so as to not run again. Obama is detested within his own party. Count on it.And Obama is far left of beingliberal. Few remember that.
