Dems 'Hysterical' as Obama Retreats on Health
Fox News ^ | January 21, 2010

The president said he would be open to scaling back health reform legislation in order to salvage it.

President Barack Obama suggested he's open to Congress passing a scaled-back health-care bill, potentially sacrificing much of his signature policy initiative as chaos engulfed Capitol Hill Wednesday.

Top Democrats said they would press ahead despite growing doubts among rank-and-file members that they can pass a bill they've been laboring over for nearly a year. A host of ideas offered in recent days have lost favor.

One day after losing their filibuster-proof Senate majority in a Massachusetts special election, exhausted Senate Democrats looked downtrodden as they filed into their weekly lunch in a second-floor room at the Capitol. "People are hysterical right now," said one Senate aide.

Party members clashed openly over what to do next. Sen. Max Baucus, a top Senate Democrat, appeared to throw cold water on a bill that would focus only on stiffer insurance regulations. Rep. Charles Rangel, chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, scotched another idea, a complicated parliamentary maneuver to usher a bill quickly to the president's desk.

In an interview with ABC News, President Obama said he would be open to scaling back the legislation in order to salvage it. "I would advise that we try to move quickly to coalesce around those elements in the package that people agree on," Obama said. White House Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer said later the president would prefer Congress to pass the comprehensive package, and hasn't given up on that option.

A pared-down bill could still restrict insurance companies

If this crown weren’ pigs....and had spent a year prior to midterms deregulating, detaxing the working economy, re-regulating and prosecuting the financial economy, they’d own the USA for a generation....and ‘Bammy would be measured for his Mt. Rushmore sittings....

As it is the clown will be lucky to finish out his term.

What people, and what elements?

There ain't much. I even reject the propaganda term "healthcare".

Are they talking about medical insurance, treatments or medical welfare?

The only thing they should be talking about is the wholesale overhaul of the latter...Medicaid.

These Marxists you listed are the ones we need to put the fear of God in. These people need to be terminated from office. We need to start to do our own McCarthy act against these people. We need to find challengers and start dumping a ton of individual money into these Republican nominees. Not to the RNC but individually.

Dems 'Hysterical' as Obama Retreats on Healthcare

HAPPINESS IS JUST A THING CALLED SCOTT BROWN WINNING IN MA Oh, what one little election in blue, blue, blue Massachusetts can do.....tra, la, la, la, la. ROTFL.

EMANUEL AND HIS BRO ARE IN CHARGE OF HEALTHCARE-MEDICARE TRILLIONS Ohaha's retreat on healthcare is proof-positive that healthcare is a con game----an extortion scheme to get trillions of dollars into the hands of Ohaha and his henchmen----Emnauel, Axelrod and the rest of the "progressive" crooks occupying our WH.

ITEM --- THE TRILLION DOLLAR GRAB OFF THE TOP Healthcare passed now would not kick in til 2013. So where's the crisis? Why such a long lead-time in phasing in the new regs? The reason is that the first phase is Ohaha's grab for our wallets----Americans will be forced to pony up billions before this atrocity even kicks in. Considering Ohaha's fascination with trillion$, that number could change.

ITEM Obama's healthcare gimmicks are legion:

(A) The first four years of ObamaCare is to amass $$billions. Period. Free govt healthcare does not kick in til 2013.

(B) Pushes much of the healthcare costs from the federal budget and onto the private sector by requiring individuals and employers to purchase health insurance....or pay a hefty fine or go to jail (only illegals are exempt from this provision).

(C) When the bills force somebody to pay $10,000 to the government, the Congressional Budget Office treats that as a tax.

(D) When the government hands that $10,000 to private insurers, the CBO counts that as government spending.

(E) But when the bills achieve the exact same outcome by forcing somebody to pay $10,000 directly to a private insurance company, it appears nowhere in the official CBO cost estimates — neither as federal revenues nor federal spending. That’s a sharp departure from how the CBO treated similar mandates in the Clinton health plan. And it hides maybe 60 percent of the legislation’s total costs.

ITEM--- ENRON REDUX The Obama Enron tricks have only one purpose: to accrue massive amounts of govt money into campaign accounts to elect/reelect Dems. That is the one and only reason to frantically push ObamaCare on a recalcitrant citizenry.

======================================

ITEM -- Obama has accumulated huge slush funds:

(a) 80% of the trillion dollar stim is unspent and under his control, being hoarded for Dem campaigns.

(b) June 9, 2009 Obama announced, "Several financial institutions are set to pay back $68B to taxpayers." Taxpayers assumed that would be returned to the general funds from whence it had come .......in order to pay down the debt. The truth, however, is that the money returned is finding new life in the US Treasury, as part of what is essentially a Turbo Tim Geither-controlled slush fund.

ITEM --- OHAHA'S AMNESTY CON JOB: Obama keeps saying "ObamaCare is not going to insure illegal aliens.......except the bill does not have verification provisions to make sure illegals can't apply and get benefits." Obama surely knows the courts have ruled repeatedly that hospitals cannot turn illegals away from emergency rooms. And besides, Obama is conning Americans----he is planning to give illegals full amnesty by the time O/C kicks in.

#16 -- great post.

This is simple. Why the heck aren't Repub leaders shouting it from the rooftops? Even now they are letting Dems control the discussion.

You're right and it's what makes me almost, if not as angry as watching the Socialists and their power grab. The Repubs have the enemies of this nation on their knees, a sword to their neck. They need to swing the damn thing and be done with them. Instead they'll stop, hold out their hand and say "hey, just kiddin'!" It's infuriating.

After Scott Brown's win, NO DEM SEAT is safe. Obama's "emergency fly ins" are going to be famous for sinking any campaign. Mid terms could end up being Jonestown II electric-boogaloo.

Heheh....nice take.

The Dems infighting is so brutal, I would not be surprised if they resorted to canibalism. ROTFLOL.

Hmmmmmmm.........just cause I'm so nice, I think I will send Dems some condiments for their "feast."

Hope the stupid Dems don't drink it down in one gulp. LOL.

Americans will be forced to pony up billions before this atrocity even kicks in.

Not me.
If ObamaDeathCare (aka: ODC) somehow does become law, and I am affected, I have decided I will NOT sign up and I will NOT pay any *penalty* to the IRS, not one red cent!

According to the Judge on Fox, the only way that 'ODC" can be killed in federal court is first you must suffer an injury from a law (fine, penalty). Until then nobody has standing and it can ever reach SCOTUS.

Now I have no idea how I will pay for the legal fees, (maybe I'll be my own lawyer. I've played one in court before) but at this point in my life I don't give a sh*t anymore. I will not bow down to these fascist-commie-totalitarians. And *maybe* I'll even get lucky and the first trial court judge will put an injunction on 'ODC' and stop it in its tracks. Just like the pro abort crowd did with the Federal Anti-Partial Abortion Law.

So that's it. My stand is....

Come And Get Me Coppers!

Don’t be fooled. They will try to pass the most watered down bill ever and then just add to it once it’s passed .
TELL YOUR REPRESENTATIVES WE DO NOT WANT ANYTHING PASSED THAT SAYS HEALTH CARE ON IT.
Give it a years rest and then look at the few things that need adjusting.

I personally don’t mind requiring insurance companies to cover everyone with pre-existing conditions. It might be bad policy, but I wouldn’t get too worked up about it.

Consider the following scenarios:

Insurance Company X gets mandated to cover all preexisting conditions. X then drastically increases premiums because of their economic responsibilities to their shareholders.

Company Y insures with Insurance X. Their premiums have been drastically increased, but they have no budget for that, so they pass the increase directly on to their employees. Some/many employees see the drastic increase in premium, and decide that they can do without insurance, because they can't be denied for preexisting coverage, so they drop coverage to save money.

Company Z also insures with X. They don't pass the rate increase along, but instead drop health coverage altogether because of the increased expense.

Company A insures with X, and they decide to drastically cut back the policies available to limit the monetary carnage.

Preexisting condition clauses are designed to protect insurers from the guaranteed bankruptcy of having majority pay-out customers. By saying these clauses should be eliminated, one is really saying that private insurance should go away - because that is the economic model being pushed.

People excluded by preexisting conditions clauses may be individual tragedies, but addressing these tragedies in this manner guarantees a more widespread malaise of unaffordable and eventually unavailable coverage.

They cant cover all pre existing conditions.Impossible , they will go broke in a year.If they pass that then lets do it for auto insurance . I’ll get insurance only AFTER I hit someone or something.Wouldn’t that be nice?

If they are forced to cover all preexisting conditions, they will be forced to get out of the insurance business.

Kind of like the housing insurers from Florida a few years ago, when the government decided they had to pay for hurricane storm surge flood damage, even though their policies specifically excluded it. A whole bunch of insurers left the state - making house insurance very unaffordable.
