The attack was treated nearly entirely as a criminal matter!
Shocking information came from Wednesday's Senate hearings with the Administration's top intelligence and homeland security officials. At the top of that list was the admission that Nigerian would be bomber Abdulmutallab had been interrogated with an eye towards criminal prosecution by local FBI officials. He was not interrogated by intelligence specialists with an eye towards collecting key information that could prevent future attacks. And after Abdulmutallab was given his Miranda rights, he stopped talking altogether.
Just who it was at the Dept. of Justice who made these decisions is not clear. Republican Senate Leader Mitch McConnell (KY) has demanded answers but none have been forthcoming. At Wednesday's hearing Director of National Intelligence Dennis Blair, FBI Director Robert S. Mueller III, National Counterterrorism Center Director Michael E. Leiter and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano told lawmakers that they were not consulted about the charging decision.
Late breaking news from the White House briefing by Robert Gibbs fingers Attorney General Eric Holder as the culprit in deciding that the underwear bomber would be treated as a criminal and not as a terrorist.
Meanwhile, we also learned that a special unit to interrogate prisoners for intelligence value which Obama promised in his first days in office would replace the CIA's program of enhanced interrogations is not even operational and was not used.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand that if Abdulmutallab had been interrogated by specialists in intelligence and Al Queda that we might have learned who the plotters behind the attack are, where they are and what future attacks they plan.
Andrew McCarthy, the prosecutor who put the Blind Sheikh who bombed the World Trade Center in 1993 in jail bemoans what we have lost:

This is precisely the kind of thing that is turning anti-Obama sentiment from a backwash into a tidal wave.
They probably had him over to the White House Crib for Christmas dinner, blessed by his favorite radical imam.
unbelievable! hope the idiots that voted for this guy are happy.
Holder says we’re a nation of cowards. I guess he saw himself in the mirror. He should be fired.
I'm already noticing people starting to be willing to speak critically of Obortion in public without lowering their voice and glancing around to see who might hear them for fear of the evil "You racist" looks from the "tolerant" blind followers.
At the rate he's being exposed and going from most worshipful leader to incompetent boob, making people feel embarrassed for ever having been sucked in by someone who has never accomplished anything but smooth talk, soon there will be bumper stickers like "Racist my ass. He's a lousy President!"
Whoa! Never saw that one coming!
Those who can't teach become politicians.
Never has this nation had such a gang of incompetent, inexperienced boobs in charge.
It brings new meaning to the term "Peter Principle".
THE WHOLE LOT of this ADMINISTRATION should be fired! All the way to the TOP!
Holy C$ap!
It's like a snowball traveling downhill. The vigor with which the Obama and Democratic machine, including the MSM, suppressed any criticism of Obama and his entourage is only going to add to the speed and viciousness of the backlash now that it's starting. Amazingly, Obama professes that recent setbacks of his administration are because the American people 'aren't listening to us.'
You can feel the anger building by the day. Americans are waking up to the fact that they have made a terrible, terrible mistake.
I know it’s hard to believe. They come in with intentions to end the Bush admin techniques that apparently worked to begin another trial and error program that hasn’t been tested.
The arrogance is unbelievable.
I predict the MSM will join in the criticism. They will be very late to the party, but they will come, just as they eventually joined in on the huge popularity of Reagan after his second election.
I agree that the MSM will join in the backlash, at least many. Some of his staunchest supporters are likely to become his biggest critics. And it is already starting, because his facade of invulnerability is starting to crumble.
There, fixed it...
Treason, to say the least.
PING!
