THE past decade was the warmest ever on Earth, according to a new analysis of global surface temperatures released by NASA.
The US space agency also found that 2009 was the second-warmest year on record since modern temperature measurements began in 1880.
Last year was only a small fraction of a degree cooler than 2005, the warmest yet, putting 2009 in a virtual tie with the other hottest years, which have all occurred since 1998.
According to James Hansen, who heads NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies, global temperatures change due to variations in ocean heating and cooling.
"When we average temperature over five or 10 years to minimise that variability, we find global warming is continuing unabated," Mr Hansen said.

NASA has become a flat out joke.
Space exploration is legit. Much good work takes place
at JPL in finding out the origin of the cosmos and the
workings of the universe.
Burning science books is something fascists do. Let real scientists do their work, without them we have no way to refute the warmists!
I don;t know, living here in SE TX this GW kind of has me worried.
The way their talking, come July it could get down right hot around here.
Defund NASA and start over..
clearly show the data and methods used and the ALL the data not included...
...or shut up
NASA is financially supported $ by....? LOL!
I don’t argue with global warming or cooling....natural cycles for the past 1.5 million years. I argue with MAN having any appreciable effect on it.
“This guy has a stake in the software companies with the stanford professor for the new satellites. He offers a open source software package that is used to get satellite data. the Data is changed on the way down to who knows what ... so no real data here.... just manufactured data...”
I had heard about schmidt and his conflict of interest do you have a link?
thanks
Here in Wisconsin, we’d welcome some global warming this time of year!! We didn’t even have much warm weather this past summer.
The way their talking, come July it could get down right hot around here.
There waa a blizzard warning in S. Arizona yesterday and snow forecast for tonight.
And I bet it gets hot here too come July.
I don't think there is enough (good) data available to predict long term trends. And the political goals of the hysterical glo-bull warmers should cast great doubt on their conclusions.
Too bad most of our elected officials buy into that crap.
i will look on other computer. I have an extensive work up on Planet Skin project which includes decadel report from Nation Science Foundation that makes all this fit in.
800 billion i think is the price tag. Obama is at the heart of this and so are progressives ..

executive summary discusses the surveillance system and how it works.
I will look for hansens tie links to stanford.
As long as there is government money to study/validate “climate change” alarmism, studies by those who receive the funding will continue to conclude CC/AGW exists.
No way the last decade was the warmest ever. What are these guys smoking?
I wouldn’t bet against it.
Two trite sayings to keep in mind. Figures don’t lie, but liars figure. And, “there are lies, damn lies, and statistics”. I might add that it is impossible to prove anything with statistics.

To some extent he is true in what he is saying. I had the same problem in seeking an explanation of numerous hurricanes and growing temperatures between 1940 and 1950. There was not a cause and affect, which his data is lacking.
If one takes precipitation, accumulated cyclone energy, number of hurricanes and average winter temperatures and correlate each to sunspot activity, good patterns are created.
That is shown in my research papers at:

The US temperatures peaked in 2000 and the rest of the decade had very warm temperatures.
It has dropping about a half degree a year on average since 2000 and I expect a severe drop towards the end of this sunspot cycle +3 years cycle in our average temperatures.
This matching the pattern of sunspot activity plus climate change drag time which varies in areas 5 to 14 years. Greenhouse gases are doing their job.
Most Sincerely,
Paul Pierett
