“I think most of us are smart enough to know that the best option is to exert influence on local Republican races and party chapters.”

...and here’s how

I hear a lot of Tea Party members are dissatisfied and pissed off with that convention in Nashville. A $350 entry fee for a grassroots get together, sounds like a big party event akin to the GOP.

Joe’s usefullnes is as the only sane person at MSNBC.

But he is what he is.

A RINO moderate left leaning punk. He couldn’t handle the heat in Congress and stepped aside to focus on money.

He is no better than the Beck he describes as a “carnival barker”, he just takes the progressive establishment perspective with some occasional “lessons” for Democrats.

Note: he is not supposed to mention or scold Olberfuher by name. The day after the election, he scolded Olberfuhrer without mentioning his name. The next day he “took a day off”.

This is his kiss azz apology to MessNbc.

I believe that certain “leaders” are deluding themselves as to any power they actually hold in the Tea Party Movement.
Speaking at a rally or two doesn’t lay the mantle of leadership on anyone.

He misunderstands the Tea Party movement as much as he is ignorant of US history.

Republicans grew from an anti-slavery movement in both the Whig and Democrat parties, which became the Republican Party.  Republicans came from both over one issue.  States rights versus a strong federal government did as well although that issue was not the initial one. It still played a part in attracting more supporters.

One large, major issue created the only third party success in our history.  It remains to be seen whether or not the Tea Party issue of government spending out of control is similar, or if the Republicans will coop the issue without returning to where the party was in 2005.  The GOP failed to learn the lesson of 1994 and reverted to becoming Democrat-Lite.  If the so-called moderates retain control of the Republican Party and if the progressives retain control of the Democratic Party, there could very well be a viable, new third party movement.

Deliver a bag of sugar and case of lemons to Joe and he’ll grow fungus.

When Joe packs a parachute, it comes in a coffin.

An event at a big campground somewhere would bring out more people.

They don't have a frame of reference to deal with a group that can't be bought off.

...and so long as the movement does not let politicians or the media "define" us, they won't.

When Reagan made conservatism popular, many liberals started calling themselves conservatives without changing their underlying beliefs.

Eventually we ended up with a term that was stretched so far it covered everything, and you ended up with "Pro abortion, gun-control, same sex marriage, higher taxes, universal health care conservatives."

As the Tea Party gains momentum, one of the challenges will be to keep politicians and other assorted leeches from using the term to cover a significantly different political belief. That said, you gotta have money to get out the message.

ROTFLMAO

Boys, the party has only just gotten started. News Flash, it will NEVER end, we are awake and aware of the threat that liberals and liberalism poses to our freedoms, it has already secured too m any victories and taken many of our freedoms from us. The party isn’t over until we get them ALL back.

Any questions Newsweek?

The movement will not survive as a third party. The DSA proved that a third party is not a viable option. They used to have an article on their web site that explained how the DSA attempted the third party route for decades and failed, then made the decision to take control within one of the two major parties. The Democrats, being closer to their own beliefs won. They also explained the formation of the Progressive caucus as the label because the term, socialist, scared the Black voters.

I believe Palin was offered money to speak but refused it. She said that the movement needed the money.

Well, that would be good on her part.

I guess the ticket price is needed to cover expenses for hall to have it in,security etc.
