The former six-term congressman stepped down Friday as host of his conservative talk radio program on a radio station in Phoenix.
"We will formally announce at a later time, but we're moving forward to challenge John McCain," Hayworth told the Associated Press. "I think we all respect John. I think his place in history is secure. But after close to a quarter-century in Washington, it's time for him to come home."

Voters will be reminded of what Juan has done to the country and his campaign finance speech restrictions just overturned as unconstitutional by the Supreme Court, is not going to shine well on him. We need to run a lot of ads about Juan a few days before the election just to remind him how much he hates free speech.

The fox should take care not to use all of them up for a super-RINO.
The best thing that could possibly happen would be that McCain would quit because of his health, or oldness, or whatever, and then Palin would be free to switch to JD without appearing to be frivolous.
Right now, all this infighting and RINOism is just bad medicine.

I agree wholehartedly...even if Hayworth doesn’t win, he is doing conservatives a HUGE favor as it will force McCain to vote and act like a conservative the next few months - at a crucial time given the 59-41 partisan breakdown of the Senate. In particular, I think McCain will think twice before taking the lead on trying to help Obama pass an amnesty bill this Spring.
Win or lose, we will owe a debt of gratitude to Congressman Hayworth!!!
It’s not just Palin and Brown that McCane has given money and support to. He has assisted others and they all owe him. Another freeper said he had five million in his war chest....How many others could or would he help in the fall. I do not particularly want McCane in DC. But there should be some way to have him support others and not use his money against another “R”.
2006 was just a bad year for Republicans, that's all.

Sarah and Scott are doing their own thing on this. Sarah is repaying a political debt. I don’t blame her for that. Scott Brown is being a Massachusetts Republican — I don’t expect him to be all that much more Conservative than McCain really — a little, obviously, but not much.
What Conservatives need to remember is WE owe McCain NOTHING — we must stand by principles, not by politicians who will betray us and our principles at the drop of a hat. And McCain has done that routinely for a LONG LONG time.

I honestly believe most voters will be smart enough to keep his candidacy and their ‘backing’ in perspective. I can't image more than a few voters would be divided on supporting on him would be swayed by this. I am disappointed that Sarah Palin has agreed to get into a purely party primary, especially on the side of John McCain, but it's a long time until 2012 and for now I'll just have to trust her to do what she considers best. I certainly intend to make on of my relatively paltry campaign contributions to Hayworth.

It is a tragedy, because he did suffer much for his country. Nobody should have to go through what he did.
But he should not be doing what he is doing NOW. He is helping Obama destroy the very Nation he suffered for.
and McCain has been running them on JD’s own radio show knowing JD could not respond... shows that all the complaints McCain made about dirty campaign tricks in South Carolina were just whining.
