GM & Chrysler are in the metro area. Check out all the Federal Dollars that have gone to that state for the last 40 years.

Yeah I know but at least Ford had enough sense to escape from Obama's clutches.

I really don’t care who wins either game today. I think the sports writers are pulling for the Jets and Vikings.

If they are, it will be the first time they were for the Vikings, and if they are, this is the first time I hope they get their wish.

If anyone deserves the credit in the last 8 years of destroying the team, I would give it all to the Genius Matt Millen.

Bright side for Lions is they traded away Roy Williams to Cowgirls. Roy was a great receiver for Texas, but hasn’t done so well in NFL.

Maybe Roy needs Chrissy Simms to toss him the ball.

When traveling to Detroit area I would stay at the Hilton Suites just a block if that from the Dome.

Sad that was all they could get for it. Any plans for it?

I understand some employees of the Dome where ripping everything off from there, true?

P.S. The Pontiac Silver Dome, previous home of the Lions, recently sold for approx. $500,000.00

I don't know which event held there was bigger...Super Bowl XVI or Wrestlemania III?

"but at least Ford had enough sense to escape from Obama's clutches."

NO KIDDING!

Best move ever.

Now if they would just move to a work free state, they could be really something.

Best of luck to them.

I bought a Ford in 2002 (first ever Ford), but they have sense sold that particular division to Tata.

It was a great car. Sold it in 06.

Earl Morral (2nd string) played most of the season 1972 season.

Good thing Shula he had brought him in the prior off season.

I knew the Redskins would win that game. It’s going to be forever before the Lions get that far again.

I also knew the Redskins would beat the Bills in the Super Bowl two weeks later. Fortunately for me most of my classmates disagreed and they paid for their mistaken judgment. :)

Just glad for the City of Pontiac that some revenue will be (hopefully) generated for the City.

I was five years old watching that AFC game with my father that day. Suffice it to say I learned some new words when Byner lost that ball.

I was nine years old watching Game 6 of the '86 WS. To quote Bubba, "I feel your pain."

Top 10 Super Bowl Teams
Monte Burke and Matt Woolsey, 01.23.09, 07:30 PM EST

Cowboys top a list of the best Super Bowl-era teams. Since the first “World Championship Game” in 1967, the Cowboys have outpaced all other NFL franchises when it comes to full-season performance. Though the team is tied with the Steelers and the 49ers for the most Super Bowl wins* (five), it has the most Super Bowl appearances (eight), a record 29 playoff appearances (which means they’ve missed the playoffs only 14 times in the last 43 seasons) and the highest regular-season winning percentage during the Super Bowl era (0.606, besting the Miami Dolphins’ 0.579).

Major Soccer League? Or indoor soccer leagues?

I really don't know, there hasn't been any more said.......

As a side note, access to and from the Silverdome was a breeze. It was right off I-75 and M-59, another major highway.

Ford Field, in downtown Detroit and right next door to Comerica Park where the Tigers play, is an absolute traffic nightmare.......with parking equally horrendous.

You wouldn't think so, but my guess is that the first game will be a blow-out with the Colts winning (I am rooting for the Jets, though) while the SECOND game will be the nail biter. Vikings can pull it off but it will be tough, most likely.

Wait - the Colts GM made the call to lie down in the 2nd half against the Jets? What was their coaching staff doing, deciding how much to pay the 3rd string tight end?

Defense will again be the key to victory in the division championship games. If the Jets can attack Mannings short passing game, the Jets just might hold on to win the AFC.

And in 'Norlins', if the Vikings can get to Brees early and consistently, they will have a great chance of knocking the Saints down to earth. Thus sayeth the TNphydeaux ... and he olny surfaces every few years to prognosticate.

I put down what the pickers write. I've had the Colts picked as the phillies, dolts, clots, Baltimore/Indianapolis Colts, the Mannings, and the horsies. Part of the fun sometimes is trying to figure out what people mean. Notice there's a pick for the Farves this week, and I think this is the first week nobody's called Minnesota the Viqueens.

That said, I do make typos every so often.

“I find it remarkable how few of these conference championship games have gone to overtime.”

Agreed. The basic assumption is that the two best teams would be almost evenly matched, having gone through very tough competition to get to the SB, and thus the odds of OT seem to be more likely than what the records show.

However, the reality is that the 2 best teams don’t always meet in the SB, with injuries, coaching decisions, scheduling, off-field distractions, and playoff game prep entering into the playoff mix.

Add to that, the 2 best teams can often both be in the same conference or division. But it is what it is, and that’s what makes it interesting.
