Obvious GOP response. Instead of creating more Bureaucracy, why not just let people keep more of what they earn in the 1st place.
Cause just like the “underwater mortage help program” or “cash for clunkers” the dirty secret is they will make much propaganda about these plans but when people try to access them, they will find out the rules are so twisted, so restrictive that almost no one actually can access any of the promised help.
The Dems all claim to be “out for the little guy” but when the little guy trys to get “help” from the Govt they find out all the conditions and restriction place on the help by the Government bureaucracy makes it all but impossible for them to get any help at all or the help they do get gets taxed away from them on the other side so they actually lose, not gain, by the transaction.
“Help” from the Government with a problem is like most charity scams. All most all the money spent by the Government to “help” people gets eaten up by the various levels of bureaucracy so that little to none actually gets into the hands of those in need.

If you want to help us, give us lower tax rates instead of credits that just go away. Double the child tax credit? Thanks a lot. My son turned 17 last year so I don’t get to take the child credit anymore. But I’m not spending any less on him. He eats more than ever, and his activities cost more that ever. And we’ve got college coming up. Get the government the hell out of my way, let me keep more of my own money to begin with, and quit trying to use the tax code to make me do what you think I should do.

America needs to reduce its “government footprint”.
That is the best way to help the middle class.

Stuck on stupid, indeed. The man is SO tone deaf. The last thing Middle Class folks want is a hand-out at the trough. Just as Farmer Brown fattens up piggies for the KILL, so is the offered hand-out that of ulterior plan and purpose. DUH.

My son, who is just old enough to understand the government "bailing out" failed businesses asked me this: "When the government is spending billions to bail out just one car company, why can't they instead just spend 300 million and give everyone in the country one million dollars each? We'd then have five million dollars and could buy almost anything."
Without delving too long on why bailing out anyone is wrong and that give outs sap individual industry, I told him that making everyone temporary or permanent millionaires wouldn't ensure enough governmental control over us to ever be contemplated by the ruling class. They only bail out their friends and treat the rest of us as does a woolen mill owner the sheep he has fleeced.

Well, I read the article. There hardly seems to be anything there. The proposals are weak.

“While a growing majority of Americans want less government, the Obama administration continues to dream up ways to add more government, more regulations and more government intervention requiring more government ‘workers’.”
reminds me of an old story:
Revolutionary Speaker: “Come the revolution, everyone will eat strawberries — proletariat workers and peasant farmers, not just the plutocrats!”
Voice From The Crowd: “But Comrade, strawberries give me a rash — I don't like strawberries.”
Revolutionary Speaker: “Come the revolution the proletariat will eat strawberries - and *LIKE* them!”

That program would also require all employers to provide the option of a workplace-based retirement savings plan. The item listed above will kill off 200,000 small businesses and increase unemployment by 1,000,000.
How on earth is that going to help the middle class?
This whole administration is stuck on stupid.

Half the country will scream “no more ‘help’, your last ‘help’ is still killing us”. The other half SHOULD scream “if this is such a good idea, why didn’t you do it last year when we needed it?”

why can't they instead just spend 300 million and give everyone in the country one million dollars each? There are 300 million people in America.
300 million dollars handed out would give us each exactly one dollar.

That whole child tax credit ending at 17 years old has always made no sense to me. I have 4 kids and my 3rd will be 17 this year so I will be down to only 1 kid under 17. You are correct, they are more expensive at 17 and 18 years old and sometimes after that. Why don't they just let you take the tax credit until you can no longer claim them as a dependent or just forget about the credit and lower the overall tax rate. Sheesh, it isn't that hard to figure out....

Whoops. My son had his math right when he spoke, noting that they spent almost a trillion on porkulus to little or no effect except serving jackass donors like the UAW. Me? I didn’t have enough coffee this morning.
