The Holocaust only gets media coverage because of affluent Jews' financial backing, military might and lobbying fronts, presenting a skewed version of events to the world, a high-ranking Polish bishop told a Catholic news portal on Monday.
Tadeusz Pieronek, a Polish bishop and professor and a friend of the last pope, John Paul II, claimed that "the Holocaust as such is a Jewish invention" promoted in the press by Jews to gain support for Israel.
Pieronek told the Web site Pontifex.roma that while the Holocaust was not exclusively Jewish, Jews had monopolized it in lieu of encouraging "serious historical debate, free from prejudice and victimization."

Far greater numbers of people were killed in Russia and China by the Communists but these tragedies are hardly ever mentioned by the media or anyone else.
Michael Savaged discussed this issue on his show one day. He claimed more Christians died in the Holocaust than Jews.
Well, I can understand why he is saying this. Millions of Catholic Poles died in the death camps, as well as Jews. And it was German Nazis who killed them, not Poles. And Stalin killed his share, too, including the massacre of most of Poland’s officers.
Poland was caught between Hitler and Stalin, who divided the country up in the Hitler-Stalin pact, and the Poles were invaded and massacred from both sides. Yet Poland often gets the blame for antisemitism from the leftists. On the contrary, Poland was one of the freest and most democratic countries in Europe, until the onslaught from Cossacks and others put an end to it. That’s one reason why there used to be so many Jewish settlements in Poland.
Still, this was a foolish thing to have said. However much Poland suffered, it doesn’t help to belittle the Holocaust.
Maybe I should add that we don’t know how much his words have been distorted. He would not be the first to wonder why the Millions of Poles who died in the death camps should not be mentioned. Indeed, I hope he did not phrase it as this article suggests he did.
After watching Beck’s show on Friday, I do think that not enough attention has been paid to some other, larger massacres. Hitler is the left’s favorite bogey man, yet they ignore Stalin and Mao.
“It should not be that one group steals this tragedy and uses it for propaganda purposes,” the bishop was quoted as saying.
He then added that the Holocaust had been used as a “propaganda weapon” by Jews to achieve “often unjustified advantages”.
In comments that could infuriate Israel still further, Bishop Pieronek went on to suggest that Jewish manipulation of the Holocaust had helped to silence international criticism of Israel’s treatment of the Palestinians.
“But they, the Jews, have a good press, because of their powerful financial resources – extremely powerful through the unconditional support of the United States.

That was my thought on reading the article, too. Perhaps the article is an attempt to divide the Christians and the Jews.
