The senator from South Carolina has hired one of The Washington Times’ star reporters — and a frequent cable news guest — as his senior communications adviser. From the announcement:

January 25, 2010 – WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Jim DeMint (R-South Carolina), chairman of the Senate Steering Committee, announced he has hired Washington Times reporter Amanda Carpenter as senior communications advisor and speechwriter.

“Amanda is an exceptionally talented writer and I’m proud to welcome her to our team,” said Senator DeMint. “She has spent years reporting on the failures of out-of-control government, and she is committed to advancing solutions that increase freedom and opportunity for all Americans.”

“I’ve long admired Senator DeMint for the battles he’s waged to limit the size of government and decrease spending,” said Carpenter. “He is a relentless advocate for conservative principles. I’m thrilled to join his team and help promote those ideas.”

Any combination thereof works. I pray that at least one of them will be running.

DeMint is sharp. I like the way this guy is building a national conservative coalition to help promote our ideas. Carpenter is a good mouth piece for him and has experience with the media i.e; she won’t take any sh*t.

WOW! I thought I recognized that picture. “Point of Law”, one of the most boring 3M bookshelf games ever. Now I have to dust it off and check it out. Nice memory.

The first thing I thought when I saw the title was, “2012”

I sincerely hope he runs... He is working hard for conservative principles and is one of the VERY few incumbents I wouldn’t mind staying in office... In his case, a higher office would be better still.

Regarding DeMint’s press choice,

Billy Graham has a policy of never being alone with women (except his wife). It’s a smart example to follow. Yes, it helps one behave, but also, it eliminates the appearance of impropriety... All your opponent needs, sometimes, is circumstantial evidence to ruin your reputation.

She is why I love red-heads. Does she have a twin sister? Two?

In fact, the only red head I dated was a twin - Harriet and Lee.

Old Confuscian saying: Double your pleasure, double your fun, take out two girls instead of one.

Interesting. I thought she was (unofficially) entrenched in the Palin camp. Though that wouldn't necessarily preclude her joining DeMint.

Aside: Not relevant, but Amanda Carpenter is not only intelligent and beautiful she is an epitome of femininity and the best dressed female in the media.
