WASHINGTON, Jan. 30 (UPI) -- The United States has speeded movement of anti-missile defenses to the Persian Gulf to put pressure on Iran, government officials say.
Four countries in the region have accepted U.S. missile defense systems, and Aegis cruisers have been deployed, The New York Times reported Saturday. The move began under President George W. Bush but has recently been accelerated by President Obama.
Gen. David Petraeus, head of U.S. Central Command, discussed the deployment in a rare public forum at the Institute for the Study of War in Washington on Jan. 22. He did not name the countries but said each now has two Patriot missile batteries.

Are they pointed inward or outward from Iran?
not a seal...Thanks. I pray for those that are deployed everyday. any of his friends are in harms warms way,
How do you say "Ruh roh" in Farsi?
“Maybe this is what 41 and 43 went to the WH to talk to zero about? Get off your dead, dumb ass and corral Iran. If Israel falls, youre in deep $#!+ and so is this country. Like it or not, just do it, you dumb, weak, commie f\/(k!”
Especially the latter ;-)
IIRC, it was Dan Quayle that save the program from being scrapped.
Lets get it on!
Hopefully we have some *offensive* weapons in the theater to boot.
Obsolete. We have been asleep. For all of the hoopla given the Patriot Missle in the Gulf War, not one missle hit it’s target. That is a fact. There is some hope, however, for the new laser weapons.
BINGO BINGO WE HAVE A WINNER!!!
Who needs a ballistic submarine when a tramp freighter will do just fine?
Low tech will wipe us out.
LOL.
Scooby is a wise barometer for world events. Iran should listen.
The balloon is liable to go up before November.
I agree, it will probably be delivered in a sea container.
Don’t give Obama too much credit, this move was offered when he killed the missile shield. It is second best, at best, but necessary because behind all the bluster from our putative allies, they were like little boys suddenly no longer behind mama’s skirt when Obama stepped back from the adult role. George Bush was responsible enough to give those “allies” the confidence to bluster for domestic consumption, knowing Uncle Sam would save their bacon. Maybe it is time for them to grow up a little.
bttt
maybe so, but I think what they are all missing is that if the SHTF Iran will mine the straights and oil prices will go thru the roof , before even leaning on Iran they need to kill the environmentalcases and start some major domestic oil production.
in a war, once a countries economy is toast its GAME OVER and time to surrender
Rome also expanded too large then crumbled from within and got finished off by the Huns
History repeats, this time it may be the Islamofascists vs the West that finishes the game
Mines are only a nuisance, we can clear mines quickly, what I am afraid of is mach-2 missiles against oil tankers
41 went to the White House with his other son, Jeb, I think.
just do it, you dumb, weak, commie f\/(k!
I love it!
Right, but in 2003 the largest available retail hard disk was 120GB, but so far this year they’ve released a 5 terabyte drive, for example, and a one terabyte drive is less than $100.
In 2003 the Intel Pentium 4 3.2GHz was the hottest x86 on the market with a SPECint2000 of 1834, while today you can get quad-core multi-gigahertz Xeon processors that blow the doors so far off the 2003 CPUs they needed a new measuring scale, SPECint2006. Even under the old benchmark later processors achieved as high as 3119 as compared to the 1834 result in 2003.
