Sen. McCain faces toughest re-election challenge
Yahoo News/AP ^ | 12-Feb-2010 | Jonathan J. Cooper

Defeated just two years ago as the Republican presidential candidate and with his bonafides as a true conservative again being challenged, John McCain finds himself in a struggle to get even his party's nomination for another term in the Senate.

Many conservatives and Tea Party activists are lining up behind Republican challenger and former talk radio host J.D. Hayworth, reflecting a rising tide of voter frustration with incumbent politicians. Only 40 percent of Arizonans have a favorable view of McCain's job performance.

Faced with his toughest re-election battle ever, McCain has moved to the right on several hot-button issues, like gays in the military and climate change, and has built a campaign war chest of more than $5 million. Former running mate Sarah Palin and newly elected Republican Sen. Scott Brown, both popular with conservatives, are pitching in.

Hayworth, who will officially launch his campaign Monday, began using his talk show on conservative radio station KFYI to drum up opposition to McCain.

McCain gets a high place in the list of the worst politicians ever to be foisted upon this country. It was and is always about him. Please, let his own state help us get rid of him.

Recall that the ‘R’ Party drafted and included a ‘Global Warming’ plank in their platform to accomodate this RINO jackass. In spite of Party opposition and grassroots procedure, the RNC paved the way for the Manchurian Candidate to cram climate change nonsense down our throats just like BO is doing now.

McCain needs to be put our to pasture. His daughter needs to be fired into space.

JD wasn’t only a talk show host, he is a former Congressman.

Yeah, Sarah, after he allowed his campaign staff to trash you. What she should do is make a statement about McCain’s service to the country and thank him for it and leave it at that. And out of respect to him giving her national recognition, not get involved with JD in the primary.

re: I can’t believe McCain’s campaign corralled Sarah Palin but now allowing his daughter to trash seniors.))0

I know. They must have a clue that she annoys conservatives. Have you noticed McBimbo hasn't said anything bad about Palin, though?

It could be the same idiots who ran his prez campaign are running his primary...let's hope!

Arizona allows independents to vote in primaries. They could make the difference in a state where 30 percent of the electorate doesn't belong to a political party.

This could be trouble, but then again, it was the independents that put Scott Brown over the top in MA.

Conservatives tried to tell him they didn’t want amnesty and he laughed at them. We will all be better off when he goes home and shuts up.

He never took the gloves off and tried to deliver a knock out punch to Obama. Great military man but sorry politician.

It may be already too late for John McCain to regain any standing with the conservative base and the “Tea Party” independents. He may be able to appeal to enough of the Democrats (who would have to cross over to vote in the Arizona Republican primary, a tactic that has been used before), but he would almost certainly be trampled in the general election anyway, should he even gain the slot.

McCain single handedly led the Republican party to the ignominy of absolute defeat at the hands of Barak Obama, who now rules America via a socialist Junta.

McCain accompllished this feat by refising to reveal the truth about Obama, Obama's lack of significant history hrough self obscuration,,Obama not naturally born as required by the US Constitution, his radical associations, the l ist gioes on.

McCain is the person responsible for this. You bet he should have a hard task at re-election.He should be run out of the party into ignoble retirement. We need men like Sam DeMint, not idjits like John McCain.

You’re probably right. Although I am beginning to wonder if she has a small problem identifying certain ducks. The guy walks like a duck and quacks like one, and he has for years. It’s not exactly a secret. It’s her credibility that’s on the line, not his. We already know what he is.

That’s why couples shouldn’t tell their family when things are rocky. When they forgive the family can’t be as noble. I’m not sure what to make of Palin going back into that hornet’s nest.

Hope McCain’s not listening to his daughter thinking she’s young and knows more.

Another weird trend happening—the food banks partner with local schools here in Vegas by sending food baskets home with the children. I find that troubling because once again it’s putting children in the parental role.

When I asked about it their reasoning is that there are so many children not getting enough food at home. Still seems as though parents should be able to come to the food bank or school to get the help needed.

I don’t know why Sarah is supporting him, but I won’t give her anymore money until she stops. He is not a conservative. She may feel obligated to support him. I will donate again to Sarah PAC as soon as she stops supporting McCain with that money.
