Don’t worry, the courts will gladly extend the deadline.

Or he can take Obambi on from the right in 2012, as Zero's political collapse has only just begun. Bayh has always fashioned himself as a "centrist", you know, and politicians like to plan ahead.

But this is more like planning his own funeral.

I”m afraid what is up is that they are having these damaged candidates retire and then put in new dems that are not damaged by these bad votes.

Byah still wanted to be Obama’s VP.

This announcement, while good news politically, may mean that the RATS are deadly serious about reconciliation in the Senate. With all the retirements, they have nothing to lose. Dangerous.

Democrats need to be replaced by Republicans who sincerely want to cut spending and change the rules to make deficits harder, then cut taxes, and then block Obama nominees and in that order. But if they are just politicians who spend a little less than Democrats do, then in the long run our country is toast whether the Republicans win big or not.

Bayh is a decent enough guy that he has been upset with the liberal takeover of the “D” party. He tried in December to organize a Blue dog branch in the Senate. But no one would stand up against him.

OTOH for year the CLIntons filled his war chest. He told the people of IN what they wanted to hear and then voted party line. Rumor is that enough people were documenting the behavior that he’d have real trouble in the fall....”Vote what you say Evan!”

BO even came to IN to campaign for him trying to sway him, but at least one paper suggested that it benefitted BO, but would eventually hurt Bayh. He couldn’t switch parties.

Friday is the last day to register to run in the primary, SO he’s really screwed the democrats in IN. Most of our top elected official have an “R” behind their names. Leaving either a state official or representative from the region (CHicago) or Inner Indy to run...Rots of Ruck!

Unbelievable how many dimocrats are jumping ship.

They key issue, however, can we replace them with conservatives who will get something done in the Senate and in the House — and I don’t mean behind closed doors — Harry Reid style.

Holding a majority in either house (especially the Senate) is a powerful thing for a Party that does not hold the Presidency.

It can effectively stop the Administration’s agenda (see 1994), which is what is sorely needed now.

It can prevent the subversion of the Judicial Branch by Progressives, literally for generations.

Goldstein is a tough guy. He can take the hits.

Wonder if Mike Pence is kicking himself right now

We need to keep Pence where he is ...He'll make a great Speaker of the House. Third in line.

“Why would Kudlow challenge Schumer when he could cream Gillibrand??”

1. Pataki might already be lined up to declare. Pataki has not declined to run as far as I know.

2. Because Gillibrand’s seat goes on-cycle in 2012, so the winner immediately goes back to re-election mode. NY is a expensive and demanding place to run a state-wide election. I can see why it might be daunting to have to do it twice in 2 years. Pataki has overwhelming state-wide name recongition and is still popular upstate so he would have a much easier time than any other GOP candidate besides Giuliani. If Larry Kudlow beats Schumer he’s in for six.

But this is more like planning his own funeral.

If he ran and lost, he's be through as a national politican. I can think of several scenarios now where he could make a comeback, running as a conservative Democrat. He's still a fairly young man.
