More than a dozen pristine landscapes, wildlife habitats and scenic rivers in 11 Western states, some larger than Rhode Island and Delaware combined, are under consideration by the Obama administration to become America's newest National Monuments.
According to internal Department of Interior documents leaked to a Utah congressman and obtained by Fox News, the mostly public lands include Arizona deserts, California mountains, Montana prairies, New Mexico forests, Washington islands and the Great Basins of Nevada and Colorado -- totaling more than 13 million acres.
Sources say President Obama is likely to choose two or three sites from the list, depending on their size, conservation value and the development threat to each one's environment.

Has anyone ever tested the constitutionality of the Federal government “owning” any land that belongs to a sovereign State? I thought this was the United States of America (emphasis on “States”). Where in the Constitution does it read that the States have given authority to the Feds to usurp land belonging to that State? Am I nuts or what?
“He is likely to choose two or three sites from the list, depending on ...” um, let’s see — on whether or not cattle graze on it (bad cow farts/ greenhouse gases), or if there is OIL or coal to be found under it, or whether it belongs to or is used by conservatives in any way.
Take a look at the map of the “Buffalo Commons” and see that all of the major oil, coal, natural gas producing areas of the great plains will be taken out of production. Also alot of farming and ranching land which will cut the food supply.
Obamao and his merry band of Maoists know that a starving and freezing population is a weak and docile one.
No independent individualists moving to sparsely populated areas of the country...

Obama’s just looking for a place to build his “birthplace memorial” that’s all.
It’s under some rock, somewhere.
And he doesn’t have any authority to create a National Park in Kenya.
