Call out the “so-called Republicans” by name is what we are saying. (BTW, Mark pegged Arnold correctly on day 1.) Stop selling books using “GOP” and “Republicans” as curse words.
I agree Beck should make his statements about "republicans" more precise, but when they were in power, economically as a party, they did blow it by spending too much and letting megabanks/freddie/fanny play craps with trillions. However, note that there is one major R name I am not specifying here, because uttering that name leads to endless, useless flame wars that beat a dead horse again.
I loathe Obama as much as you do, and so does Beck. Blaming republicans who are now out of power is useful only in the sense that it reminds us to hold both parties accountable.
I'll give you an example of my own blindness. In 2000, I was for McCain (pro-life, war hero, etc.) It just didn't cross my mind that a man with such a background could want to legalize 10s of millions of illegals and thereby give leftists control of all 3 branches of government forever. It became obvious that I was wrong about McCain. In fact, McCain's absence from congress to campaign was a key reason that we dodged the amnesty bullet in 2007.
Fast forward to 2008. I liked Sarah Palin immediately, but then she talked about a "path to citizenship" on Univision. John Cornyn, the anti-amnesty hero from 2007, has posted on his website multiple times that he wants Obama to push "immigration reform." Will Palin and Cornyn betray us? I hope not, but we must hold both parties accountable. We already know that Dems are evil, but we need to keep our eyes open when we support republicans.
