(WXYZ) - The FBI is confirming raids at the offices of three Michigan auto suppliers who do work for Toyota.

Search warrants were served Tuesday evening at Yazaki North America, DENSO International and Tokai Rika. Yazaki sells electronic components and DENSO makes accelerator pedals.

Denso has released the following statement about the situation "DENSO International America, Inc. (DIAM), U.S. subsidiary of DENSO Corporation, was inspected on February 23, 2010 by the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation and the U.S. Department of Justice in regard to U.S. antitrust laws. DIAM is cooperating with this investigation."

Just bought my first Toyota last week, and I am proud of that fact.

After owning a Jeep product continuosly since 1993, I will NEVER buy another Government Motors car again. I am disgusted on what this country has come to.

That’s a fallacy. Corvairs were never “rolling over”.

...former owner of more than 5 Corvairs.

No, the negro at DOJ had his leash pulled by his UAW masters to go on attack.

"Did Government Motors put them up to this?"

Oh no doubt. It's as obvious as the nose on one's face that the only way obomba can get his newly acquired automobile manufacturing businesses to hold a monopoly is if they can demonize their stiffest competition. Needless to say, if they are successful driving Toyota out of this country they will set their sights on Nissan, Subaru, Ford and any other manufacturers that have not allowed "the one" to "buy them out."

America and the world is sooooooo screwed.

Every day it gets a little scarier.

Just remember, obama is not a socialist. He said so.

What the HE!! justifies this?

Absolutely nothing justifies this. This is how third-world dictators control things. And that's what our federal government is all about now - control!

I want to go on record as being the one who said, from the very first post, that Toyota should come clean, apologize, fix the problem, and move on. But they didn’t, and this is the result.

I feel pretty certain that the Gov’t will conclude that the pedal wasn’t the main problem, software was.

I don't think Corvairs could roll over. They were nice and roomy. A good car for teenagers because they couldn't accelerate too fast and held the road like a brick.

May Ralph Nader go to hell for killing off two of the best cars of the era. The Corvair and the Bug.

Sadly to say, the British did it to themselves.

Anyone know why the British don't manufacture computers?

The engineers haven't figured out where the oil should leak from yet........

In the context of history, what idiot let Obozo claim that in Nixonian tone, that “he’s not a socialist”? What a dolt?

Curious if the part was made by a US Co. here in the US, or elsewhere? [Lots of metal manufacturing is down in Mexico now, and over in China, too...]

You’re right that Toyota should be shining a spotlight on the company that supplied the part assembled here in the US. That’s where the real problem with quality comes into play. Who was the machinist(s) making the part, and how qualified are they (a huge problem with parts made OUT of the US in re: to quality because of inferior training in many cases, or could even be defects in where that company got the metal!).

Yeah, but my Brit bikes, i.e. Bonnevilles, Trophy Cub, Matchless Twin, etc., and BSA Rocket III, were the only motorcycles I ever owned that I didn't need to ever change oil in...

Just add a pint every weekend! LOL

PS - No matter what company you are buying a car from (incl. GM, Ford, etc...) none can claim their entire car is made here in the US. Too many parts coming in from all across the world being put into cars assembled here...

Good grief.

This is as obvious as a government-led hit job can be. How could it possibly be more clear?

1) Government/UAW-owned car manufacturers are in the red, and it's not getting any better.

2) Toyota is the #1 selling, non-union manufacturer.

3) Obama and his team are a group of Marxist Chicago thugs.

4) Every car manufacturer has defects and recalls. ALL OF THEM.

5) Toyota was chosen, out of all others, to be put under the harsh spotlight of government and media attention, to be the recipient of the fear, blame and scorn of the nation.

Given those facts, is it REALLY too difficult to deduce what's going on here? Given that Obama has closed nearly every Chevrolet or Chrysler dealership in the country that was not a Democrat supporter, do you REALLY think he wouldn't go after non-union manufacturers?

It will not matter WHAT Toyota does. They have been targeted for extermination. Expect the remaining non-union manufacturers to each have their turn in front of the firing squad.

Obama: Union, by any means necessary.

Hi, everyone,

Not sure if this has anything to do with it; but, the chickens in a way are coming home to roost in at least a couple of ways. Firstly; the prostitutes in congress are finally reaping what they sowed when they decided to let the Japanese buy them off back in the day and helped destroy the American car companies in favor of the Japanese ones. Secondly; did they really expect that the Japanese would be running the company the way we ran ours by letting the unions call the shots. That is part of what this is about. The congress is trying to appease the unions. JMHO

What are you guys smoking?!?! Listen I’m as anti-democratic policy y as most. In fact I’m pro-Jesus Christ, little government, stay out of my business Mr. Middle America. All the same I’m in the auto industry and Toyota has gotten a free pass for years. Some of this conspiracy crap may even hold water and you know what I have to say about that …………….good they had it coming. You can’t suppress and destroy evidence. You can’t falsify quality ranking and thumb your nose at the American public and get a pass forever. Some of us have been hearing this stuff fro a couple years now. We knew and were waiting for it to come. The people that were duped is the American consumer who danced around thinking they some how had a superior “American” car. It has never been American and never will be.
