Jeb Bush On Sarah Palin: 'I Don't Know What Her Deal Is.'
Toby Harnden February 24th, 2010
Some breathtakingly candid comments from Jeb Bush who could surely be one of the strongest GOP candidates in 2012 should he wish to run about Sarah Palin. They come 18 minutes and 39 seconds into this fascinating Newsmax interview with the former Florida governor.
Bush praises her charisma but then says that she needs to add to this some depth of understanding of the complexity of life. She has an innate ability to communicate and connect with folks but seems to feel that thats pretty much it. If she could build on that with, er, understanding of and insight into the world then she could be an incredible candidate.
To put it mildly, thats rather faint praise.
Bush then delivers what amounts to a devastating critique of Palin: I dont know what her deal is. My belief is in 2010 and 2012 public leaders need to have intellectual curiosity. The world is really an amazing place but it is very complex, it is very fast moving. If you think youve got it all figured out, the minute you start thinking that is the first day of your demise.
Just in case Bush thinks hes stopped talking about Palin, he adds: So if she has those skills and she wants to run then shell be a great candidate.
It is hard to dispute that Bush is right on both counts. Palin clearly possesses a rare and natural political talent. But thus far she has displayed very little willingness to build on this by studying the world and coming up with some intelligent conclusions or questions about it.

yuck. he should stay out of politics for like 10 years. Give us a Bush break, will ya?
LOL, good thinking! I like it. With ideas like that, they should make you Chief of Staff.
Jeb, ever heard of fat chance?
I get tickled at these men that tend to want to pat Sarah Palin on the head. Especially since she could take them out with two words if she was of mind to do so! lol
I’ll look for the link, unless you have it handy.
I don’t see where Bush said anything wrong. Most of what is being objected to is the slant of the reporter. Mostly what he said was strong praise.
As far as what her “deal is,” what is it? Is she running or is she teasing, or does she know what her deal is herself? A potential candidacy is what he was referring to, imo.
I’d never vote for Bush, but his handicapping analysis is
Have to say I agree with the “the revvvverrrrennnd jaaacksonnnn”: “Stay out da Bushes.”
Funny how other Republicans make the news by trying to say, or imply something negative about Palin. Sort of like playing “King of the Hill”, by going after the person on the top.
Palin clearly possesses a rare and natural political talent. But thus far she has displayed very little willingness to build on this by studying the world and coming up with some intelligent conclusions or questions about it.
Another clueless reporter talking to another clueless
politician.
Jeb Who?
...yet she's on their minds/in their heads 24/7/365.
Heh heh heh.
Not sure why she is branded as not intellectual curious. Is this still because she didn’t name what magazines she reads in the Couric interview?
Jeb Bush On Sarah Palin: ‘I Don’t Know What Her Deal Is’

up at the top of thread and in the Telegraph UK article is the Newsmex link
And the Telegraph UK knows this beyond any shadow of a doubt? What a bunch of dumb asses!
If there is ANY candidate who would fare poorly to zilch in the upcoming GOP primaries for presidential candidate, it would be another Bush. Jeb Bush would be toast after the first primary, if not beforehand.
I’ve voted for the Bushes 4 times. Never again.
‘I Don’t Know What Her Deal Is.’
That sounds pretty cheesy for a silver-spoon elitist of a Bush.
I thank Jeb for exposing himself. Things don’t turn out so well for those who attack Sarah.
I don’t think Jeb Bush knows what anybody’s “deal” is.
” devastating critique of Palin”,...? I don’t think so.
I think Sarah Palin is just what the country and world need. Some straight forward common sense and concern for America’s security and the survival of the better and superior Western civilization.
What are the choices? Islam? Africa? Russia? Socialism? Communism? Cuba? The fruitcake Hugo Chavez and Venezuela? The ant like living of China? The starvation of N Korea?
What works best for freedom and prosperity?
The video is here. Kathleen Walter pops the Palin question at about 18:30.
The world is simple.
We eat, we sleep and we die.
SKISS - Shoulda kep it simple stupid
kep = kept
