Was just listening,...the Governor on now...

Earlier interview said based on what a particular Pacific island has experienced ...they are estimating 6 foot waves arriving 20 minutes apart...

As the earth expands and contracts from global heat, it causes the tectonic plate movement.

You mean global heat of the atmosphere? There's far more heat coming from inside the earth that heats the crust kilometers deep where the earthquakes occur. The heat per unit of matter of the atmosphere is nothing compared to the mass of the oceans and crust.

What makes you think he (Daniel) wrote it himself?

http://www.religioustolerance.org/daniel.htm
The text contains a number of Greek words; yet the Greek occupation of the area did not occur until the 4th century BCE.
One of the musical instruments mentioned in Daniel 3:5 and in subsequent passages did not exist until developed in 2nd century BCE Greece.
Daniel 1:4 refers to the “Chaldeans” as a priestly class in Babylon. This term did not attain this meaning until much later than the 6th century.
About 180 BCE, Jeshua ben Sira listed the heroes of the Jewish faith, including “Enoch, Noah and Abraham through to Nehemiah;” 2 Daniel is not mentioned - presumably because Jeshua is unaware of him. This would indicate that the book of Daniel was written after that time.
Chapter 12 discusses the dead being resurrected, judged, and taken to either heaven and hell. At the time of Daniel, the Jews believed that all persons went to Sheol after death. The concept of heaven and hell was introduced centuries later by the Greeks. It did not appear in Israel until the time of the Maccabean revolt.
Daniel 11:31 (and elsewhere) refers to “the abominable thing that causes desolation.” This appears to refer to the erection of a statue of Zeus in the Jerusalem temple in 167 BCE, and would indicate that the book was written later than that date.
Prior to Daniel 11:40, the author(s) has been recording past events under the Babylonian, Median, Persian and Greek empires. In Daniel 11:40-45, he really attempts to predict the future. He prophesizes that a king of the south (of the Ptolemaic dynasty) will attack the Greeks in Judea, under Antiochus. The Greeks will win, will lay spoil to all of northeast Africa, and return to Judea where Antiochus will die. The end of history will then occur. The author(s) appeared to be a poor psychic because none of these events actually happened. Antiochus did die in 164 BCE, but it was in Persia. Thus, the book was apparently completed before 164.

"What makes you think he (Daniel) wrote it himself?"

Many things, a major one of which is that Jesus says he did in the Olivet discourse.

Tsunami Advisory in Effect: California Coast

The National Weather Service has issued a tsunami advisory for the California Coast from the Bay Area to San Diego County for this afternoon. The tsunami was triggered by a magnitude 8.8 earthquake that hit Chile this AM.

In the Bay Area, the advisory covers Alameda, San Francisco, Santa Cruz, San Mateo, Marin, Monterey, Contra Costa, Napa, Sonoma, and Santa Clara counties.

An “advisory” is the NWS’s lowest-level alert — it means there could be waves and strong currents, but that officials don’t expect “inundation.” Still, the service says, we might see “dangerous surges and currents” in harbors and bays. And that means stay off beaches and marinas for the afternoon and secure your boats. (The first waves are expected to hit around 1:20 pm.) You can track arrival times and expected wave amplitude for the California coast and Bay Area at the NWS Tsunami Warning Center site.

The tsunami is expected to cause greater damage in other areas. NWS has issued a tsunami “warning” (the highest alert) for Hawaii, where emergency response plans are already in effect there: e.g., tourists in Waikiki, residents in shoreline areas, and everyone at Hilo International Airport already have been ordered to evacuate. The tsunami is expected to generate waves as high as 8 feet — but not the “wall” of water with which we often associate tsunamis.

Tsunami warnings are also for South America, Australia and New Zealand, Japan, the Philippines, Russia and many Pacific islands.

OH, I see. I didn’t realize you were speaking based on faith and not on archeological facts. My mistake.

I was being facetious...

Speaking of humor, Obama is preparing to give a live speech regarding the earthquake.

The book of Matthew is an archeological fact. One more confirmed than any other ancient text extant. There are many refutations to the early date theory and Daniel as the original author is easily the majority view, even in acedemia. I don’t want to derail the thread but cutting and pasting from other web sites the wealth of evidence for the earlier date. If you want to go with the higher critical analysis, good for you. You certainly have that right.

Maybe O’bam will talk about Chile’s healtcare system...

Health care in Chile is very advanced and state of the art on the high end. The national health care system provides basic medical service and coverage to all levels of society. Quality is however better at private clinics and hospitals around Chile, though even the most expensive private clinics are relatively affordable (at least by U.S. standards).
