There has to be a lot more dead than being reported.
That’s major damage.
3:30 in the morning, most people asleep—I’m very much afraid that you are right.
Prayers up.
We knew it was going to be bad. I have relief funds that I send to and am able to direct it. I hope the Obama Admin. doesn’t keep talking about interference. An 8.8 is huge. God Bless these folks in the region and all affected.
And man is going to “destroy the Earth”, huh? Look at how nature brushes us aside like Lego pieces.
Opening my checkbook for Chile relief. Unlike Haiti, I feel confident it will actually be put to good use.
The pics depict really severe damage.
I am, however, confused with the US news reports of
Tsunami warnings all the way to Japan, as well as here in the Philippines.
There seems to be little or no mention from the US news of
a Mag 8 earthquake, off the coast of Japan, that took place at about the same time as the Chile quake.
I think there was a Tsunami watch for NW Luzon, which faces Japan, but the media seems to think that the entire Pacific
is in danger from a quake that was so far away from here.
What am I missing here?
There has to be a lot more dead than being reported.
Right. The media has decided that the public at large could not handle the bad news psychologically. Just as they handled 9/11
What am I missing here?
Your forgetting that the drive-by media is reporting from their cubicles.
I think Chile has a decent handle on the number of dead. It may reach 400, but I seriously doubt it goes much higher.
Geraldo did say last night that the 8.8 Chile quake was 900 times stronger than the Haiti Earthquake!!!
Prayers that the death total is not going to zoom upward.
Hoping it is not - believing the God is right there in the midst of all this chaos and saw to it that not the thousands or hundreds of thousands were killed either by the earthquake or by the Tsunami waves that were definitely headed to kill thousands or millions more - had they not “mysteriously” stopped in their tracks!
The video that’s been shown on Fox and on CNN (yes I turned to CNN last night because Fox went away from live coverage but CNN did not) - the video’s showing the TSUNAMI waves coming were absolutely terrifying to see. Maybe someonw will find a way to post a link to those videos - so even more can “see” and “believe” in HIM - the Savior of the world and the soon coming (for His church first and after seven horrible years - coming to reign in power and majesty on this earth - for 1000 years!!!
now go ahead and tell me to shut up.
It’s ok.
One news commentator said that Chile had high building standards because they were so earthquake-prone. That probably helped keep the damage down. Even so, an 8+ is going to do damage.

I was in a slight New Madrid fault tremor 35 years ago. It was unsettling. It only lasted a few seconds, but it was unnerving to feel a slight shaking.
I can't even imagine what it would be like to be caught on one of those bridges or roadways in the pix above and see the asphalt rippling in waves.
8.8 is no joke. I’m guessing you can’t even crawl with that much movement going on.
I’ve been wondering when our local fault slip is coming. We’ve had few good ones in the past. TWO of the FOUR biggest in California and I’m right between them.

My family is prepared the best we can be, the rest is in God’s hands.
oh my..God help them...prayers going up
The history of earthquakes off the Chile coast (like this one) have been linked to deadly tsunamis striking across the entire Pacific basin. Google the Hilo tsunami of 1960 to learn why they took this seriously.
Wow!

Youtube replay of all that was going on yesterday re: the Tsunami - talking about how fast the water was rushing out of the Bay....
“It’s hitting Hilo(Hawaii) first...etc...”
The audio for this youtube replay is horrible.
Maybe somebody can post a link to a better feed somewhere on the internet that replays the Tsunami reporting of yesterday.
