John Roberts, Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court, is seriously considering stepping down from the nation’s highest court for personal reasons, RadarOnline.com has learned exclusively.

Roberts, known for his conservative judicial philosophy, has served on the Supreme Court since 2005, having been nominated by President George W. Bush after the death of former Chief William Rehnquist.

RadarOnline.com has been told that Roberts, 55, could announce his decision at any time.

The decision paves the way for President Barack Obama to make his second appointment to the U.S. Supreme Court following his first, Sonia Sotomayor.

Consider who is behind RadarOnline.

Some kind of power play might be going on behind the scenes. Perhaps there is something out there..and they are going to leverage.

Think about David Paterson who was not going to back down..and they brought him down when he didn’t do what they wanted.

I’m going to stick with Drudge and The Corner until we hear otherwise.

There’s a vast difference between Hollywood type gossip and serious business of the Supreme Court. I’d think getting dirt on Tiger would be much easier than people on the court. They don’t tend to get involved in scandal as (even the liberal ones) take their job very seriously. But the fact we’re allowing an internet gossip site to bring the highest court in the land down to the level of Tiger Woods gossip says more about us than this rag.

Oh Dear God, no!! What is he doing to us? This is the worst thing that could possibly happen. There is more to this. He wouldn’t do that!

"Nothing from Roberts.."

It would be VERY unusual if Roberts addressed this at all. Traditionally, Supreme Court justices don't address rumors, and they especially don't address speculation about their possible or pending retirement, FWIW.

Of course, Roberts will probably put out a statement just minutes after I post this. That's what I get.

I don’t believe it, I do believe they posted a rumor to get hits on their blog. I also think it should be removed. A blog isn’t a credible news source for something of this magnitude.

Most likely Hillary.”

Don't be redundant.

"Some of the justices remind me of Strom and Byrd. They’ll be carried in on a gurney hooked to an IV before they retire."

John Roberts just turned 55.

There will be a Reichstag fire, but I haven’t yet figured out who will play the role of the Jews...

Some variation of big banks, big pharmaceutical companies, and/or big insurance companies and the like. Many nominal and actual conservatives will happily go along, having been seduced into believing that these successful businesses are villains.... Whatever their flaws, they only do what Congress has told them to do. Otherwise, they behave like any other business having a product they want to sell to a marketplace of consumers.

All I can think of that would make him step down are serious illness in his wife or a child. If he had a early dementia or someting like that. Or blackmail.

I'm sorry ... BUT IMO none of the above mentioned is enough to destroy America over. He holds a position of responsibility that at this point in time that IMO supercedes ANY family concerns. He is an indespensable soldier on the front lines ... his removal would have disasterous consequences

Maybe Roberts can’t live with the fact that he swore in an imposter.

Maybe he feels something is getting ready to blow open.

He will wait until after the elections to step down. He is too much of a patriot(or so I thought) for him to leave now.
