First Amendment be damned . . . If Oscar-winning actor Sean Penn had his way, any journalist who called Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez a dictator would quickly find himself behind bars.
Penn, appearing on HBO's "Real Time with Bill Maher" on Friday, defended Chavez during a segment in which he detailed his work with the JP Haitian Relief Organization, which he co-founded.
"Every day, this elected leader is called a dictator here, and we just accept it, and accept it" said Penn, winner of two Best Actor Academy Awards. "And this is mainstream media, who should -- truly, there should be a bar by which one goes to prison for these kinds of lies."

I suppose it is FIRST because it was believed to be so unimportant to our liberty, huh Sean?
Wasn’t (or isn’t) Sean Penn’s father a well known Communist?
I am not advocating any type of violence, let me say that, but someone who hates the millions he’s earned in Hollywood in America and sides with her enemies publically, needs “correcting”.
That would be a major improvement for this guy.
I have friends who are Venezuelan. They are NOT in support of this evil man, but Sean Penn is even more base an excuse of a human being for defending him.
Yes, he was blacklisted as a Commie.
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
I know you’re not advocating violence, me neither.
Penn is crying out for help. I hope someone helps him. ;-) And “as you sow, so shall you reap” aka the law of karma, will be along shortly anyway.
Sean Penn, Hollywood Red Diaper Doper Baby.
You know, maybe it won’t be me who assists him, but if anything ever happened to him, my emotional state would be the same as Penn’s soulmates who have have passed like Teddy Kennedy, John Murtha and Howard Zinn.
They all share the same vision I think needs to be clarified.
Oh! I know!! They've never lived under communism but are litte rich kids!
I'm soooo wasted......
Remember this overpaid and overlauded fool's antics during Katrina?

EFFORTS by Hollywood actor Sean Penn to aid New Orleans victims stranded by Hurricane Katrina foundered badly overnight, when the boat he was piloting to launch a rescue attempt sprang a leak.

Sean Penn roams the streets of hurricane hit New Orleans --
I think Sean Penn has smoked one to many joints.
Sean Penn will never get sick or hit by a car. He and OJ will live a long and healthy life. Not fair!
He doesn't even have THAT voice.
Shutup, already.....
Sean Penn needs a brain transplant.
Anythings better than the pea-sized one he’s using now.
If sean Penn had gotten what he deserves, he would be dead or in prison, along with a lot more celebrities.
I believe, by the statements he has made in the past, that it is an utter certainty that that procedure has already been performed.
You can not take what is not there!
That's because he IS an actor. And not a very good on at that!
