More Democrats come out against health care bill [Four from KY, IL, SD and NC]
CNN ^ | March 12, 2010 | Charles Riley and Jeff Simon

Posted on 03/12/2010 8:40:03 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

As House Democratic leaders advised their members Friday to prepare for a legislative battle over health care that could stretch through next weekend, four additional rank-and-file Democrats have come out against the Obama administration's signature domestic priority.

Reps. Ben Chandler of Kentucky, Luiz Gutierrez of Illinois, Stephanie Herseth-Sandlin of South Dakota and Heath Shuler of North Carolina say they will vote against their party's health care plan, which may be headed to a final vote late next week.

"At this time, I am a 'no' vote on health care," said Gutierrez in a written statement. "It's no secret that I have been critical of proposals that would exclude our nation's hardworking immigrants from the health care exchange, and I would find it extremely difficult, if not impossible, to vote for any measure that denies undocumented workers health care purchased with their own dollars."

According to an ongoing CNN survey, 21 House Democrats have now indicated they will vote against the Senate bill when it comes to the floor, though six of those members say they would consider voting for it if it were significantly modified. Opponents of the bill need a total of 38 Democrats to vote against the measure to ensure its defeat, assuming that all Republican members remain unified in their opposition.

Some members made clear that their votes are not negotiable. Josh Taylor, a spokesman for Texas Rep. Chet Edwards, told CNN the congressman "voted 'no' on health care the first time around and will vote 'no' the second."

Proponents of the health care plan need 216 votes in order to pass the Senate plan. As of Friday, no Republicans said they would vote in favor of the bill, which would mean Democratic leaders must rely solely on votes from its own members.(continued)

First of all, it isn’t a done deal. If Nazi Pelozi had the votes, she’d have ‘em vote NOW so Hussein can go on vacation.

Second, you say AP says it is a done deal. Where?

Third, you believe the AP? C’mon Cat. :)

Hey! If an individual doesn’t have to prove he’s a natural born citizen to fill the highest office in the land (which includes a “Rolls-Royce” healthcare plan, amongst other things), why should anyone else have to prove citizenship to get the new “free” (”Yugo”) socialized healthcare?

Except this congresscritter was complaining that "undocumented workers" (ie., illegal aliens) wouldn't even be able to buy health care insurance "with their own dollars" under Mengelecare.

"...that denies undocumented workers health care purchased with their own dollars."

It doesn't make sense.

Check out Hugh Hewitt website. He has a email system to send letters to Blue Dogs.
http://hughhewitt.com

He also has a link to the Tim Burns, the Republican trying to take Murtha’s old seat.

Send him a contribution to send a message to the Democrats.

That’s what Pelosi is doing this weekend. Seeing which districts are safe and which districts she will lose anyway.

This will come down to one or two votes and they will be well compensated for their yes votes.

Heath Shuler of North Carolina say they will vote against their party's health care plan, which may be headed to a final vote late next week.

Heath Shuler was an outspoken conservative Christian as a teen in Swain County, North Carolina. His hometown has not changed. They abhor abortion, even though they have a bent toward the Democratic Party of the grandparents....that old pro-America Democratic Party of the past.

I'd not be surprised that those folks would want health care, but they would not want it to be paying for the killing of babies. If health care can be had without killing babies, and it can, then that would be where they'd demand their representative to Congress would be.

Looks like some Dems are willing to admit that America has the best health care system in the world, and that they as House members would like to keep it that way, especially if they can keep their nice Federal Employee Health Benefits and not sign onto ObamaCare themselves!!!

Job 12:10 ~ In His hand is the life of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.

O Most Merciful Father, we plead that You would draw upon the hearts of those in authority over us ... let there be many more who stand against abortion in the DeathCare Bill than those who are in favor, that our guilt might not be made greater when all citizens would be required to participate in the killing of the innocents through our tax dollars. Go before and fight for us, O Lord ... send the Heavenly Host to slay ungodly greed and lust and hate and power and ambition, that we not see the impending doom come to pass. Rescue the perishing, O Lord, rescue the perishing, in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ we plead, Amen ...
