Barack Obama 'too tired' to give proper welcome to Gordon Brown

Barack Obama's offhand approach to Gordon Brown's Washington visit last week came about because the president was facing exhaustion over America's economic crisis and is unable to focus on foreign affairs, the Sunday Telegraph has been told.

Sources close to the White House say Mr Obama and his staff have been "overwhelmed" by the economic meltdown and have voiced concerns that the new president is not getting enough rest.

But Washington figures with access to Mr Obama's inner circle explained the slight by saying that those high up in the administration have had little time to deal with international matters, let alone the diplomatic niceties of the special relationship.

Allies of Mr Obama say his weary appearance in the Oval Office with Mr Brown illustrates the strain he is now under, and the president's surprise at the sheer volume of business that crosses his desk.

A well-connected Washington figure, who is close to members of Mr Obama's inner circle, expressed concern that Mr Obama had failed so far to "even fake an interest in foreign policy".

A British official conceded that the furore surrounding the apparent snub to Mr Brown had come as a shock to the White House. "I think it's right to say that their focus is elsewhere, on domestic affairs. A number of our US interlocutors said they couldn't quite understand the British concerns and didn't get what that was all about."

The American source said: "Obama is overwhelmed. There is a zero sum tension between his ability to attend to the economic issues and his ability to be a proactive sculptor of the national security agenda.

This poseur makes my ass tired.

From Day One he has INTENTIONALLY INSULTED our greatest historical ally.

It really grates on his zeppelin-sized ego that he's a British citizen.

Chapter 3: The Warren Harding Error: Why We Fall for Tall, Dark, and Handsome Men Although Gladwell has heretofore made a case for the accuracy of thin-slicing, most of us have a negative association with snap judgments, and for good reason: they are often incorrect. In this chapter, Gladwell considers the impact of what he calls the Warren Harding error on the accuracy of our ability to make rapid judgments. He asserts that when we allow our unconscious prejudices and biases to circumvent the "blink" process, our judgments are often inaccurate.

Gladwell first illustrates this argument using the story of former President Warren Harding, whom many historians have claimed rose through the political ranks to finally assume the office of the presidency based largely on the power of his classically attractive "tall, dark, and handsome" physical appearance. With no discernable political skills, other than an impressive speaking voice, Harding shrunk from the responsibilities of his office, and is now often identified as one of the worst presidents in history. Voters allowed their deep-seated prejudices about the connotations of physical attractiveness make their decision.

This book will need to be updated. Few of today's youth know much about Harding, but we have a new "tall, dark, and handsome" skill-less and clueless incompetent elected to our White House based only an his impressive speaking voice.

Interesting. Sorry then to impute any false motives. Wonder why Fox did not have the correct date. Article is interesting in its own right for seeing how Obama would continue and accelerate his bad behavior.

Regards,

I am trying very hard to remember a time President Bush complained because he was tired of the aftermath of 9/11.

Wait. He never did.

At least last time Barry gave him a box set of DVD’s from the discount bin at Target, but now he can even muster that. Barry’s undermining of the U.S. reputation internationally will take decades to undo if at all.

I read somewhere that he was a party animal and was holding frequent parties at the White House. Hey- freshman year is over. Time to buckle down and grow up to your responsibilities.

“BO.....is unable to focus” not getiing enough sleep. Well he can join the rest of Americans in wondering how they are going to servive what’s happening in their businesses and homes.

He has nobody experienced to deligate resposibilities to...they drop the balls...he drops the balls...and they’ve all discovered running a country is not for community organizers.

They’re all in over their heads and that is why things of importance are falling thru the cracks, aside from BOS personal objectives..healthcare, etc.

This man and his staff are insufficient for the job...but we did know this when he ran...american voters didn’t care, they asked for a starlite and they got one.

I remember when they busted on R. Reagan because of his age.
The State-run media questioned whether he would be up for the job. Reagan was 20 years older that this flub and got the job done! Enough said.

“Reagan was 20 years older that this flub and got the job done!”

Of course, Reagan never was stupid, delusional or arrogant enough to even contemplate trying to take over 1/6 of the economy, much less attempt it. A government incapable of competently handling what’s already on its plate shouldn’t be in line trying to pile on even more things to do.

Oh! So now the punk is too tired. Maybe he should take a day or two off from lying to the American people on TV. He is apparently never too tired to face the cameras.

Being too tired strongly suggests that he is not up to the job.
