Military: anybody who can shoot qualifies regardless of his height

N. Korean military recently instructed military mobilization department of the local authorities to lower height limit for this year's fresh conscripts from 140cm (55.1 inch) to 137cm(53.9 inch.)

On March 16, our sources in Chongjin, N. Hamkyong Province, quoting a figure from provincial military mobilization department, relayed information that, for conscription for this year which started in March, height limit for conscripts which used to be 140cm was lowered to 137cm (by 3cm,) following the directive from N. Korea’s Defense Ministry issued in early March.

He explained, "In recent years, conscription efforts have had trouble fulfilling the planned quota due to height requirement, which prompted this decision, but only 80% of quota is being filled now. After 'March of Suffering'(great famine,) kids have not had enough to eat, and the resulting malnutrition stunted (physical) growth, leading to drastically lowered height. The average height of graduating class of high school has lowered to 134cm(52.8 inch,) causing severe height and weight discrepancy to the level that makes one wonder if entirely new race is being born."

Toward the end of war, Nazi Jugend was mobilized to fight combat. Some were said to be as young as 12.

Upon first firefight, they were said to be instantly divided into two camps, the ones frightened like children, and the other who were typical teenagers with no sense of risk.

If you’ve ever seen the massive armor suits worn by ancient Korean warriors you’ll notice most of them were made for men nearer to 6 feet tall for a century or more at the peak of the southern Kingdoms.

A 4 foot 6 inch half-wit can fire a pre-positioned artillery piece, of which the North Koreans have about 20,000 within range of Seoul. There is no way to attack them without suffering a million civilian casualties. Even an attempt to load up every single B-2 and F-117 and hit each tube with its own mini JDAM would not be enough to keep them from flattening Seoul within about five minutes after they got the order.

Yes, legends or historical accounts from that era has reference to really tall man(and women.) Modern Koreans believed for a long time that these accounts are probably fanciful tall tales. However, in recent years, many are giving it a second look, since they do begin to see many young Koreans over 6 feet.

Not too long ago, even the average Nork soldier was a fearful thing. In combat capability, he was at least equal to a US Marine and in ferocity, probably much worse. If keeping the Kim dynasty in power was a strategy, it would be one of the most successful holding strategies in history.
