Stupak: We Are Close To Deal With White House By Bob Cusack - 03/21/10

Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mich.) said Sunday morning that he is close to striking a deal with the Obama administration on abortion provisions.

"We are close to getting something done," Stupak said in an interview with MSNBC.

Stupak said he engaged in talks late into Saturday night.

The possible deal would focus on an executive order that would specify there would be no public funding for abortions in the healthcare bill.

"We're close but we're not there yet," Stupak said.

Democratic leaders said Sunday they have the votes on healthcare reform, but Stupak said until there is a deal struck, they don't have the 216 votes they need.

Stupak said "there were eight of us" in the negotiating room, all of them no votes. Stupak said Saturday that there were "at least six" of his original dozen that were going to oppose the health bill. He said that he was "going to think about" what would need to be included in an executive order to convince him that no federal dollars would go toward funding abortion. Further, Stupak said that he had not talked to the White House about such an executive order.

Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D-Ohio) confirmed Stupak's whip count of at least six holdouts.

An executive order not worth the paper it’s scribbled on.

In a mere month or two, Stupidac can pass the baby blood to another’s hands, shrugh his Catholic shoulders, and say, “it wasn’t me....!”.

He’s been a lieing “so-called” Christian all along. He’s a democrat. His lips move. He lies. Never believed him. He’ll answer to a higher authority than his constitutients, Pelosi or Obama one day.

An Executive Order does not have the force of Law and can be revoked at any time.

Can Stupak be so dumb to accept and executive order from Obama and trust Obama not to revoke this order?

If Stupak votes for this bill under the perception of an executive order he is just a Pro Abortionist just like the other Democrats!!!!@1

No, but he may believe the voters are dumb enough to buy it

Then what happens to the 40 women who walked out of the Pelosi dem women’s meeting yesterday who said that a deal with Stupak would cause them to vote against it? Aren’t they going to lose those women? Are they pulling a fast one on Stupak? I can’t figure out what is going on. I don’t think they can either.

The little off-Broadway production the scoundrels have been performing in is nearing the Final Act.

The same Pro-Life voters who voted for a Democrat because he paid lip service to their cause? He's probably right.

Such a deal would last until the day the first lawsuit demanding government coverage of abortion because to do otherwise discriminates against women.

On that day Obama will recind his executive order, saying that it is “divisive” and “not what the American people asked for.”

I don’t think they can either.

Promises on top of bribes on top of kick backs on top of threats on top of ultimatums. It's all in there.

Behold the corruption that is and has been the norm within the DemocRat party for at least a century. On vivid display for all to see........

The executive order not only can be revoked, but it sets a TERRIBLE precedent. Basically congress would appear to have agreed that the President can provide or remove funding for abortion any time he feels like it, simply by executive order.

We already know that Barry is a baby-killer with absolutely no feelings about human life whatever. He’d as soon abort his own grandchildren as have breakfast. He feels zero empathy for ANYONE.

And if he doesn’t do it, then the next Dem president can do it, his first day in office.

Now STUPIDPACK is going to trust Obama, the one who wants partial birth abortions to be legal and paid for by our tax dollars?

Anyone who has ever believed him on the abortion issue is a...well at least someone who has the wool pulled over their eyes easily. It is a smokescreen issue in the headlong rush to Communism. Then abortion will be mandated for Conservatives.

I am just so shocked that liberals are being, well, liberal.

Ok everyone click your heals together three times and repeat after me: “there is no such thing as a pro-life/moderate democrat.”
