One Thing That's 100% Guaranteed: The Healthcare Bill Will NEVER Be Repealed

Already Republicans plan on introducing a bill this week to repeal last night's historic healthcare vote.

Obviously that's going nowhere.

But looking out, Republicans will probably try to run on repeal in the runup until November. It's possible that will play okay at the ballot (we don't know) but anyone who thinks this is a realistic prospect is smoking something illegal.

First of all, to repeal the vote would be just as difficult legislatively as passing healthcare was, so just think of how hard that was. Republicans would need 60 pro-repeal votes in the Senate to defeat a Democratic filibuster. And remember, they'd need a President who wouldn't veto the bill (i.e. not Obama or any Democrat).

But even that's putting too fine a point on it. Here's the real story, and it gets down to the fact that this new bureaucratic superstructure is now permanently ossified into our federal government.

“How do we fight? Who do we fight? Keep electing Republicans? “

Elect CONSERVATIVE Republicans. This is a local effort for all of us.

If you are a defeatist, STFU and go suck your thumb in a corner .... we have American Freedom to restore. Either lead, follow or get out of the way.

REPEAL needs to be the platform of the GOP this year. Call/Write/Email your GOP Congresscritter. Get them to commit to making repeal the HR1 bill next year.

WE WILL WIN THE HOUSE AND IT WILL HAPPEN.

“DO the Republicans ever even try to repeal any government programs?”

YES.

It’s happened before. AWB was passed ... and is no more.

“What the Democrats have done is create a firestorm. Leading up to this vote, the Democrats have created more conservatives than the Republicans could have ever hoped to. Now that its enacted and people will be directly affected by it. Seniors losing Medicare benefits, lower income people losing their jobs over this, they will create even more conservatives. People are involved like never before. This health care crap has changed the whole political paradigm as we knew it before and the old rules don’t apply. They have attempted to govern against the wishes of the American people. The American people will not stand for it. This will utltimately be gutted.”

CORRECT.

Encouraging. One out of thousands. Minus all the programs they augmented over the years. Their mantra has always been we just want to slow the rate of growth. In other words, bigger.

“Joe Weisenthal is just one more enemy that needs to be overcome.”

Defeatists are not the enemy, but they need to educated to understand that only defeatism can defeat us.
Understand that political war is 100% psychological. The Left wins NOT when they win elections, or even pass laws like this... THEY WIN WHEN WE GIVE UP. When that happens, they have the power of us they need.

NEVER GIVE UP. NEVER GIVE IN. NEVER SURRENDER.

Are there enough conservatives to stop Obama?

“If they can implement this it can be repealed. Why is it that people say they could never get this done, and they did? You know the bureaucracy they about about to create will be a total mess and failure. I have had many plans in mind in my life. I had to stop on some because I ran out of money.

They will too. This CANNOT be repealed stuff is BS.”

SO TRUE!!!

We simply cannot AFFORD this entitlement. It WILL crash and burn like the Hindenberg. The question is whether we cleanly repeal it soon or have it crater down the road and take our country with it.

Those who say it cant be repealed are buying into some liberal fantasy inevitability myth. We are NOT in the 20th century any more!

“I think that one house of Congress could simply refuse any appropriations for the whole program. It would take more guts than one usually sees in politics, with all sorts of screaming and name-calling in the MSM and from the socialists and commies, but it could be done.”

The GOP Congress could also repeal all the mandates, taxes and other rules that make this contraption ‘work’.

Obama vetoing tax reductions and mandates?

Then the GOP could allow states to run their own systems with ‘opt out’... suddenly half the states will go a different way.

Then gut the huge new entitlements, get illegal immigrants out of it. let private insurance go outside the exchanges....

Before you know it, you’ve gutted the bill like a mackeral.

All it takes is a majority in Congress and the political will.

LETS WIN THE CONGRESS BACK ASAP.

There are many eligible conservatives. We have to stop the country club RINOS from nominating their cronies.

Trouble is that the Dems will retake power at some point and use the remaining 15% to build on. The whole thing must go piecmeal or otherwise - 100%.

The only real solution is to ensure that Dems never win another election - for decades at the minimum. But then the Republicans will, at some point, suffer an attempt to be taken over by rinos.

What does that leave? Eternal vigilance I suppose - never allowing any one forget what the principles and modus operandi of socialist are - and learn to play chess - to think beyond today and many moves down the road.

my 2 cents

“I think I have to admit to myself at this point that, that my distaste for the bill puts me in a minority.”

WRONG!!!

59% of Americans can’t be wrong!

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2010/03/22/cnn-poll-americans-dont-like-health-care-bill/?fbid=KDhIusZ7kEJ

” 59% oppose the Democrats’ health care bill, while only 39% favor it.

* 70% say the federal budget deficit will go up under the Democrats’ health care bill; only 12% believe it will go down.

* 56% say the bill creates “too much government involvement in the nation’s health care system,” 28% say about the right amount, while 16% say not enough.

* 62% say they’ll pay more for medical care under the Democrats’ health care bill.

* 47% say they and their families will be worse off under the Democrats’ health care bill; 33% say things will be about the same, and only 19% think they’ll be better off.”

The best chance of defeating the healthcare bill [not yet law] is if SCOTUS determines that the mandate provision is unconstitutional.

It is the linch pin of the legislation - without it, universal coverage is not possible. Universal coverage depends on the volume of people [and their preniums] paying into the system FAR EXCEEDING the benefits paid out

Its like Social Security [and we know thats in the toilet] only ON STEROIDS !!!

Without the mandate - the health bill is a paper tiger ...

Someone said the price of freedom is eternal vigilance. We all know nobody became free by sitting around feeling hopeless.

We can and should keep fighting as hard as ever to strike down, repeal, and protest this unconstitutional power grab.

Obamacare is not written in stone.

Agree 100%.

And that is why I say 100,000 Americans surrounding congress with chainsaws would do the job. Literally dismantle the building. If they can’t respect the office we elect them to and the people who elect and pay them, it’s time to dismantle their work place and send them home - permanently. The lack of a federal legislative body for awhile would do this country good. After the election in November, a whole new slate of elected officials can convene elsewhere. They can put loudspeakers and lawn chairs out on the mall, for example.

“Republicans would need 60 pro-repeal votes in the Senate to defeat a Democratic filibuster. And remember, they’d need a President who wouldn’t veto the bill (i.e. not Obama or any Democrat).

This can be done and looks more promising by the day. Once it gets to the SCOTUS it will probably be ruled unconstitutional anyway.

“All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.”

This implies that evil will be defeated when good men do something. Good Americans are done with “doing nothing”.
