One Thing That's 100% Guaranteed: The Healthcare Bill Will NEVER Be Repealed

Joe Weisenthal
Mar. 22, 2010, 9:36 AM

Already Republicans plan on introducing a bill this week to repeal last night's historic healthcare vote.

Obviously that's going nowhere.

But looking out, Republicans will probably try to run on repeal in the runup until November. It's possible that will play okay at the ballot (we don't know) but anyone who thinks this is a realistic prospect is smoking something illegal.

First of all, to repeal the vote would be just as difficult legislatively as passing healthcare was, so just think of how hard that was. Republicans would need 60 pro-repeal votes in the Senate to defeat a Democratic filibuster. And remember, they'd need a President who wouldn't veto the bill (i.e. not Obama or any Democrat).

But even that's putting too fine a point on it. Here's the real story, and it gets down to the fact that this new bureaucratic superstructure is now permanently ossified into our federal government.

"the taxes and penalties start right away but the benefits don’t start until 2114"

I only wish your were right. If the benefits would start in 2114, I'd be long dead.... : )

The Assault Weapons Ban was never going away, either.

Maybe but it may be declared unconstitutional if enough AG’s & governors sign on to the suit that will run the instant O signs the bill.

It is not healthcare, it is “Health Control”.

We just need 50 U.S. Senators and a conservative President to get rid of this crap of a bill through the Reconciliation Process.

The demonrats called down the thunder and it’s coming down on their heads.

I can’t believe this defeatism

Neither can I, and neither would Washington have:

“If all else fails, I will retreat up the valley of Virginia, plant my flag on the Blue Ridge, rally around the Scotch-Irish of that region, and make my last stand for liberty amongst a people who will never submit to British tyranny whilst there is a man left to draw a trigger.”

George Washington, at Valley Forge.

Then the country will go bankrupt, and we will see the US default on its sovereign debt, like some retarded third-world banana republic.

The Bill that will grant illegal aliens , potential citizenship, is championed by at least two of the current RINOs, I believe that will be the next issue picked up.

I am hoping that it will fall before a challenge in the courts. Even if the whole thing doesn’t go, I think we’re going to see some key parts of it declared unconstitutional.

The rest of the job will then consist of amending or defunding the remaining parts of it out of existence. Oh, and figuring out where to hold Barry’s impeachment proceedings and subsequent criminal trial...

Joe Weisenthal’s piece is the writing of a coward and defeatist. REPEAL this abomination from Hell NOW! Work like you never worked before to elect conservative candidates to Local, State and Federal offices.

Let us all take our country back from the evil doers. We can do this. Make it happen. Rise up!

I think that one house of Congress could simply refuse any appropriations for the whole program. It would take more guts than one usually sees in politics, with all sorts of screaming and name-calling in the MSM and from the socialists and commies, but it could be done.

Another scenario: Wait five years, and when the whole thing is bust, no one will be able to make the program work, and a complete overhaul of the country will happen., That is the hard way, but it may be the only way.

Our biggest allies may be the slugs who benefit from this bill. Yes, when something is free, it is always used wastefully and inefficiently. The supposed beneficiaries will utterly break the system.

I am in favor of civil disobedience against this socialist healthcare, but whatever I could do in this line is as nothing compared to the damage the users of the program will do on their own, without thinking, and just by the nature of things. This program will not work, and if we can survive the damage it causes, eventually it will destroy itself.

One place to put our energy is in continuously educating those around us. Don’t let anyone shift blame for the distaster which is coming. Teach your kids economics and history. Teach them about the Constitution, and how it should be interpreted.

I will annoy my liberal friends more. After all, they have been annoying me for years, and I generally restrain myself because I am trying to be nice, and I assume that eventually they will grow up. Well, from now one I will be somewhat irritating. No insults, but I will relentlessly put things in perspective.

That was going to happen before this HC bill passed. It is just a matter of when.

No they would not. With a simple majority, the senate would have it in their power to change the rules (the nuclear option). The dems would have done that this time if they thought it politically expedient. Also, sixty votes could include dems who are fighting for their lives. The political landscape might look very different for them if they are an unpopular minority. Furthermore, a simple majority in the house could simply not approve funding for any of this. The question is, will they have the balls. I think not. But this should be what we push for in Congress. States should clog up the courts with law suites and we should work for a constitutional amendment. I think that is the best shot but now is the time to push hard. The longer this stays the more futile the effort will become.

I am not optimistic

Hmm, but not at the rate at which it will now happen. And there is something unsavory to be said for a spendthrift who, knowing there are bills that need attending to, goes on the mother of all spending sprees. That makes it well nigh impossible to do anything other than simply default on the debt and refuse to pay the bills, which will turn us into just another washed up has-been, just like the UK was after WWII (in large part because we pushed them over the precipice).
