Interestingly there was a very astute comment by talk show host Dennis Miller. I get him by tape delay at 6-9 PM on KRLA.

He said that because small businesses would be hit by the new `legislation` and would have to lay off people. Dennis suggested that the business owner go to the parking lot, spot any of the cars that still had Obama-Biden bumper stickers, and make the decision on that basis. The small business owner should tell the folks getting laid off, "I am making change you can believe in".

A few minutes later he said Obama was a "total BS artist"

Always liked that Miller, yessiree...

Thanks, that’s the attitude, there are so many posting hopelessness.

I’m sure the men at Normandy were scared, but, by God, they carried on.

Thank God they did. We owe our children no less.

The author is correct. If the Republicans can gain control of Congress this November, that victory will rightly be considered a mandate to repeal Obamacare. Even if the GOP displays its usual cowardice, they can let the nasty thing wither and die on the vine by just defunding it. No scary votes where they have to display principles; just a quiet committee vote where they amend out the funds for it. Either way, they’re poised to actually do something about a socialist program.

“We’ve never been in this situation before, where we’ll actually win an election on the heels of passage.”

Err, we are?

We MAY win an election on the heels of passage - and even at that it is extremely unlikely the GOP wins back the Senate.

Cart before horse much?

“For us to win big time, we have got to get voter fraud under control. Every election I hear people say how conservatives will have to win huge or ACORN will beat them. Why do we allow that?”

Did you notice that ACORN is bankrupt? Now, I’m not pretending that they won’t reform, and we’ll need to fight the voter fraud of the next snake to come out of Medussa’s hair. But that’s a great interim victory. And we have two young people that stepped up the plate for the victory - thanks James and Hannah.

I agree with your disciplined approach to this though. You know who’s done tons of work on this is John Fund of the Wall Street Journal - we should read which groups he recommends are involved in clean up.
http://old.nationalreview.com/comment/fund200409130633.asp - excerpt from Fund’s book.

John Fund:
“Part of reforming the election process will entail requiring photo IDs of all voters to cut down on potential election fraud, according to Fund. He noted that photo IDs are required to fly an airplane, enter many federal buildings, cash a check and even to rent a video at a Blockbuster store, but not to vote in most states.”

This looks like an interesting group - anyone else know abou them?

My biggest fear is a repeat of 1994 and 1996. The Republicans take over the House and Senate, the voters forget why they were disgusted with the Democrats, and two years later Obama gets re-elected.

Not if we point out that the increasing insurance premiums, the bump in layoffs, the slowdown in consumer spending and increased taxes are all a direct result of Obamacare. And all of these things WILL happen.

Somewhere inside of me, coiled like a spring, is all of that ready to be tossed at the first liberal that bitches about any of the above this November.

Constitutional amendments (but not a constitutional convention which is way too dangerous)

Actually, a constitutional convention may be the best way to kill Obamanation health care deform.

A constitutional amendment can be proposed by a convention of 2/3 of the states and then ratified by the legislatures of 3/4 of the states with no Congressional approval.

This has been a teachable moment for America. Now the public understands in a very concrete way that there is no such thing as a moderate Democrat, pro-life Democrat, or honest Democrat.

Now the public understands what we meant when we said 0bama was a socialist in disguise. Now they see that 0bama ran on a pack of lies, like the lowest slimeball say-anything-to-win politician sleeze that he is. Now Americans know, as 0bama said himself, what “change” looks like.

The mask has fallen from the face of 0bama and the “Democratic” party, exposing them for the anti-constitutional banana republic politburo they are. But at the end of it all, we are America, and it will not stand.

Every last one of them will be replaced by citizens with one common oath: to repeal 0bama’s destructive attack on our American liberty. And it will be done. Very little, if any, of 0bamacare will go into effect. We will hold it up in court, dismantle large portions of it judicially, and repeal the mangled remains that are left. In 2013, the first act of our new constitutional president will be to sign a repeal of 0bama’s destructive policies.

“We don’t need to just repeal it. We need to fix the system. Increase the supply dramatically on the provider side of the equation, and costs can and will come down.”

Love your theory and in a perfect world it would work, but the markets on the provider and facility side are closed due to education requirements, licensure, and regulation.Supply is not elastic.

Look: We're not going to repeal shit unless we get about 300 Republican members of the House and gain 30 senators this fall. That's what it will take to override Mussolini's veto of the repeal legislation. Neither one is going to happen.

But, the fact is that the House still originates appropriations, and most of the malignant cancerous elements of this bill will need funding to become operative. The House can starve the beast with less than a two-thirds majority. That's what we need to be thinking about.

WE do not need to just repeal. I have talked to a local congressman. He agreed that if you can’t repeal, all you need to do is right a new law that makes this one null and void. He says congress does that all the time. Write a law and have it passed by both houses of congress with a simple majority, call it the “health care freedom act” one that opens up competition in the private sector, one that provides tax breaks for insurance companies, or for private health care, etc, or a bill that simply turns it all over to the private sector.

More on cleaning up voter fraud:

http://www.thefreelibrary.com/Fraught+with+fraud%3a+the+threat+of+election+fraud+by+illegal+voters...-a0188275601
“ID cards are man-made and anything man-made can be counterfeited. The recent scandal at O’Hare Airport where illegal aliens used other people’s picture ID cards to gain access to critical areas of the airport should also put that argument to rest. Also, lawsuits would probably be filed against attempts to use the ID cards for comparisons with other lists. In Stealing Elections, John Fund noted that “the ACLU once sued the US Attorney in San Francisco because he matched voter records against lists of legal immigrants who were not yet citizens.” What good is a national ID card or statewide database when government officials can be sued just for merely comparing one government database to another?

To clean up the problem, we need to look for the source of the problem: fraudulent voter registrations. Fortunately, there is a solution. We have had successful voter registration clean-ups in the past and they succeeded in stopping or greatly reducing voter fraud. We need to clean up our voter registration lists now. It can be done fairly q quickly, at relatively low cost, and the solution is 100 percent constitutional. That is to once again make voter registration lists unrestricted public information and put a small bounty, perhaps $2 or $3, to encourage people to report inaccurate or fraudulent voter registrations.

Such a voter registration clean-up would meet with strong opposition, and we must take steps to prevent obstruction of it. One way to obstruct it might be to overload the clean-up by flooding it with thousands of challenges of lawful voters. For that reason, all submissions of challenges should be on paper and delivered in person by the person making the challenge.

To aid the people in finding the inaccurate voter registrations, each registration should include the name of the registrar or source of the registration. In such states as Arizona and Washington where Internet voter registrations are allowed, using that source of registration should be a good evidence trail for finding phantom voter registrations. While Arizona and Washington require a driver’s license or similar ID for online voter registration, such safeguards, weak as they are, will likely be removed in the future as the current trend in litigation is removal of ID cards for voting.

If the bounty approach is adopted, we’ll probably see the lion’s share of the voter registration clean-ups from America’s high-school students. They’re the ones who know who the noncitizens are and can track down the nonexistent addresses in their neighborhoods. And they’re the population group most motivated by a $2 or $3 bounty for each one. They’re less likely to think of $2 or $3 as a small amount of money, but rather as two or three downloads of music. With their assistance, our voter registration problems can be cleaned up very quickly, probably in about one to three months.

[ILLUSTRATION OMITTED]

You may ask: “What happens if a valid voter finds his name purged from a voter registration list?” For one thing, we should require address verification as part of the voting process. I have seen this done in Texas, and it was effective as well as inexpensive. Aside from preventive measures, any voter whose name was purged should be allowed to cast a provisional ballot.

Provisional ballots can be handled efficiently and accurately, especially with optical scan ballots. While there have been numerous procedures for implementing provisional balloting, the following appears to me to be the best.

When a voter wishes to cast a provisional ballot, he needs to sign a sworn statement explaining why he should vote. Each signed statement of the voter should have the ballot’s unique ID number and should be put in a sealed envelope with the voter’s name and precinct on it. The ballot should be cast and counted. If an election has more provisional ballots than the plurality or is audited for other reasons, each provisional ballot envelope will be opened and the reasons why that provisional ballot was cast reviewed before a committee. This should be done in public and the reviewers should be videotaped as they explain why they accepted or did not accept each provisional ballot. If it’s determined that a provisional ballot should not be allowed, the ballot should be retrieved based on its ID number and the vote totals adjusted.

This procedure is designed to safeguard the secret ballot as the only ballots that lose their anonymity are those that should not have been cast. In election recounts where provisional ballots are being reviewed, it should be illegal for political parties and candidates to survey provisional voters asking them how they voted until after the provisional ballot envelopes are opened and are officially accepted or rejected.

America’s voter-registration problems can be fixed quickly, inexpensively, and within the bounds of constitutional government. This can be done, but only if the American people stand up to the politicians and tell them to stop using this as a springboard for advancing a national ID card and instead use tried and true methods that have successfully cleaned up elections in the past.

Kurt Hyde has over 30 years’ experience as a computer professional and a student of elections.”

Whether or not we can repeal is one thing, whether or not we will try to repeal has already been set in motion. It doesn’t matter how much whining about how its a hopeless cause because an attempt is gonna happen regardless.

Let the whiners whine, they get a kick out of it, the repeal express has already started and at a minimum it will be a fun ride. We need to attack this bill on as many fronts as we can, and we need to ignore whiners whenever possible.

We still have to get the new law past odorko. He will veto. Still its worth a try. All fronts must be executed.

It will take at least 67 GOP votes in the senate to overcome Obama’s veto. That means the GOP needs to pick up 26 of 34 seats in 2010. That's not going to happen...

Possibly in 2012?
