Earth Hour Alert Reminder: 8:30 PM (your time) Your hour to shine, TURN ALL YOUR LIGHTS ON!

Earth Hour Alert: at 8:30 PM (your time) turn on ALL your lights. In honor of Earth Hour, I am asking All willing Freepers to turn on All your lights, turn up your heat and turn on the a/c to cool it down, due a few loads of wash, start up every computer, make a few loaves of bread in the bread machine...if you have one, put a spot light in your yard. It is my understanding that the success or lack of it will be measured by how much electric wattage was used in that hour and satellite pictures of the earths darkness.

Hahahah !

Yeah, this won’t make a difference. You can’t really see the electricity and lights from space.

I could be sitting in my backyard reading a book under the floodlights.

But it’s too cold.

The Capital is lit up like a Christmas tree - as it usually is this time of the evening. In fact the whole DC skyline is pretty bright tonight...

Earth Hour. What a catchy phrase. I put it in the same league as *Hope and Change*.

8:39 central time, neighborhood action report: about half the houses with porch lights/coach lights ablazing; about half totally dark.

However, a good fraction of those in the dark are foreclosed victims of the Obameconomy, so I think the good guys are in the lead here.

The builders of my house added a whole lot of high-powered outside lights all the way around the house.

Light bulb test in five minutes!

It’s hard to celebrate idiocy. I don’t give this much thought except I won’t power things I wouldn’t normally do so. I was driving for the first part of the hour before getting home and everything looked normal. I think a lot of this is media hype that few swallow.

10 flood lights outside. About 50 landscape and accent lights. Central A/C set at 68. Baked some brownies then decided to do a 3 hour cleaning with the self clean on the oven(500 degrees). Decided to wash all the throw rugs, didn’t really need it, just did them 3 days ago, but get a head start on next week. Washed the comforters in both guest rooms. 3 tvs on, 3 computers fired up, every lamp in the house on( about 15). All halogen ceiling lights on in kitchen, bathrooms and utility room. All 8 halogen dock lights on that shine into the water. Just to add an extra FU I opened up the back door while the A/C was on to make sure it kept running.
That’s my contribution. A big FU.

My house sits on a hill overlooking the entire neighborhood below. I'm pleased to see many Christmas lights, one outside Christmas tree, several large expensive houses with every single window lit up, and of course, some houses completely dark.

I can also see the clouds over Santa Fe are still lit up like a giant bonfire, as usual!

Heh...

I just put on my Christmas lights. But then, I keep them on all year. Just a few strands in the windows. I like colored lights - really cheers me up!~
