Americans overwhelmingly see the new health-care law as a major shift in the direction of the country, but they remain as deeply divided today over the changes as they were throughout the long congressional debate, according to a Washington Post poll.
Overall, 46 percent of those polled said they support the changes in the new law; 50 percent oppose them. That is virtually identical to the pre-vote split on the proposals and similar to the divide that has existed since last summer.
Overall, seniors tilt heavily against the changes, with 58 percent opposed and strong opponents outnumbering strong supporters by a 2-to-1 ratio.

One more thing — this was a poll of adults, not voters.
The article also cites some numbers that are more favorable to Dems, but that is not surprising when they poll “adults’, not registered or likely voters.
Overall it doesn’t look good for them.
I would not believe a PUSH poll conducted by this Obama front group and published by Leftist Dave Balz.
This is a lie poll. Look at the new polls by Mason Dixon on Obama, Bill Nelson and Obamacare.

TALLAHASSEE — Florida voters dislike the new healthcare law so much that President Barack Obama and the state’s top Democrat, U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, are paying a hefty political price, according to a new survey and analysis by Mason-Dixon Polling & Research.
“Only 34 percent of Florida voters support the new law while 54 percent are against it, according to the poll. Opposition is significantly strong among two crucial blocs: those older than 65 and voters with no party affiliation. Seniors disfavor the bill by a 65-25 percent margin, while independents oppose the law 62-34.”
34% of FL voters approve. The Washington Post is LYING.
Actually what is significant, is that even in this push-poll of adults, they are finding more are opposed than in favor and:
“More people see the changes as making things worse, rather than better, for the country’s health-care system, for the quality of their care and, among the insured, for their coverage. Majorities in the new poll also see the changes as resulting in higher costs for themselves and for the country. “
I don’t believe their numbers. I would bet the real percent opposed is closer to 60% and that percentage will continue to increase as the public learns about the awful details of Obamacare. Also, 4% undecided sounds too low to me.
The people opposed to ZeroCare is really closer to 60% and the proponent percentage is in the 30s. Polls like these from the WaPo, et al are massaged for Demo consumption and are trying to create the bandwagon effect for it.

And a basic knowledge of the personages in the Obama Administration, in his inner circle, not to mention the Reality of the Man Himself, lends every creedence to this point, and affirms it as not being an overreaction.
Whatever Obama does will always have 95% black support, no matter what. Any political poll number will always be weighed down by this fact. What matters here is the level of opposition among key swing voting demographics which will decide elections. These key groups hate ObamaCare.
I agree. On first review, it looks like somehow they fudged the numbers and undercounted opponents and then moved people from undecided into the supporters group.
Right on target. The Scott Brown election results are very important. Mass is a state with a lot of socially liberal white people and independents. Brown’s win indicates that white people who are liberals on social issues are now really bothered by the economic policy of liberals and are moving into the GOP camp to save themselves from economic distress and very high taxes.

The numbers are much worse than this 50-46. I bet it is 60+ against. One personal story. I had dinner tonight with my sister-in-law and her husband. She is an english professor in late 50’s. Very, very liberal! We don’t talk much politics anymore because the last time it blew up into a name calling argument. Anyway, the topic of the health care bill came up. Her and her husband were totally against it. She said she couldn’t stand to listen to the radio on the days leading up to the vote. They called Pelosi an idiot. Complained about the taxes and said “what does the government ever run well!” I couldn’t believe it and just made a few points that they agreed with and listened. They made statements like...”where are they going to get the doctors?” “....who would want to be a doctor, etc.” Anyway, my view is that the Repubs won the arguement but didn’t have the votes. Now, I still have my doubts that my sister-in-law and husband can actually vote for a Repub, but at least they see the failures of high taxes and government control.
Oh geez, another balanced poll. Please ignore this little trick of the lefties. More people in this country oppose healthcare than do not.
Yeah, but thanks to gerrymandering, a huge percentage of blacks are in overwhelmingly black congressional districts (like Sheila Jackson Lee's district in Texas for example), so that leaves fewer blacks in the remaing districts and gives the Republicans an advantage. So while third rate lunatics like Jackson Lee will probably continue to get reelected till they die, the net effect overall of their gerrymandered black districts is to lessen the overall effect of black voters on congressional elections.
